  • LoY ribbons

Hey, I saw ribbons as an easy way to get skill ups but then after sitting a few hours in Steamfont it didn't work.

My question is where is the best place to sit and forage for the stuff needed?

I wwould like some zone that I can get xp in but being 61 that doesnt seem like its going to happen.

    Thanks.

I doubt in any zone there is a "best place" to sit and forage, unless you're refering to a "safe place" so as to not get killed (and a lvl 61 in Steamfont just doesn't have to worry about that!! ). In any spot, in any given zone, I think you have the same chance to forage any item forageable in that zone as any other. I assume you're after the spring water, and I don't know if there is any as a ground spawn. But for pure foraging, any spot should be as good as any other.

If you are after springwater, however, that item has also been added to the loot tables of the kobolds in the area. So if you wish to acquire it in quantity, spend time foraging and hunting the kobolds for maxiumum effect.

If you find the farming greenies to be too boring, you could create an alt just for giggles and level it while farming the springwater. Or hire a low level toon to farm it for you. I had limited success scouring all of the merchants near Steamfont for the water. But the skill up rate on the ribbons is good. I went from 151 to 158 in 40 combines of gold ribbons. (I also got 1 skillup in smithing when I made my shears!)

        Wow, Thanks!

I didn't know that it now drops off the kobolds. Glad to know this and as a level 61 druid I do have to worry about crap in SF. I'm on a PvP server so my faction is the crap from killing all the gnomes back in the day.

Thanks for info on drops though. I'll start and elf and PK gnomes as I get some water.

Remind me to get my gnome SK out of retirement and PK elfs who PK gnomes.

On a related note - Seahorse Roe and Bamboo shoots. I understand that it's (mainly) snakes and spiders in Erud's Xing that drops the roe, but is it just pandas that drop bamboo shoots in SBM, or has anyone else found it on other mobs?

            Yup.

            Only Pandas, who arent AoEable.

And the drop rate is, in the words of tradeskillers everywhere "Stupid rare"

                from what ive seen

Farm steamfont merchants or kill the big kobald camp for steamfont spring water. That will get you up to 182.

After that its slow to get to 187

Im killing gobblins in dagnors myself (im a non forrager though)

They are low level with maybe 500hp max so i can slaughter them easily

Caudron prawns are rare. About as rare as essence of shadows for de smithing (usually 1 every 15 or so minutes)

                183 now and climbing

I made a trip out to Dagnor's, got one prawn, and gave up on that idea. I'm just buying plant shoots as they show up in the Bazaar now.

Got to 160 so far but the only problem I see is that NONE of the zones which can drop this stuff off mobs has anyone in them on my server.

Btw, It looks to me anything can drop water. I got it drake, spider type cloakwork and one off earth elemental.

Plant shoots...Are they droped in JP? Or just foraged?

Yep. It seems like verant went out of their way to put the "harder" items on zones that noone visits.

I mean lavastorm? no forrager visits there.
Dagnor's Cauldron? Only time i see people there is when they are going to kedge or unrest and even then its rare
Overthere? Granted has more but relatively little in the ways for forragers
                      Jaggedpine? Mostly dead
West Commons? Rarely does a forrager have the levels to survive them

Im not sure but i think alot of the forraged items dont sell to merchants so newbies might just destroy them

And rarely are any of the items sold in the bazaar (except for outrageous prices to skill up on. Im already spending 105 plat for a plat ribbon attempt. Im not going to spend another 50 for a single dye that you forraged
                      /sigh

                      Only easy one was steamfont

Im at 186 and have been trying to get that last point. Currently done almost 20 ribbons and havent hit that 287 mark (i HATE DAGNORS AND CAULDRON DYE!!!)

Yea put things in zones that nobody goes to then make them extreamly rare to either drop or forage. I put my druid on forage duty 2 nights when I was in zones he isnt flagged for and in 2 nights of nonstop foraging for 5+ hours he managed to get 20 shoots. it averages out to about 2 bamboo shoots an hour. OUCH! on the good side I did manage to get a rune of the tempest and made a robe of the tempest. now everybody in the guild wants one for their caster twinks go figure.
