  • This seems strange to me.

Does anyone else wonder why Halfling clarics can not wear halfling cultural armor? Or why Halflings can not make an unimbued version of the blue diamond cultural armor?

  • #2
... and why instead the Dwarves make an armor for Halfing and Gnome Bristlebane clerics, that the dwarves cannot wear?

It's weird, but I'd suggest gratitude at having armor, given some holes that exist in the charts.

All of the Halfling armor is Karana-imbued because the classes it is designed for cannot choose to be agnostic.

The real question is why SOE gave Dwarves Bristlebane-imbued armor instead of the Halflings. I know this is how the old cultural was designed, but at the time only Erudites had tailored armor suitable for plate classes. With the addition of chainweave and plateweave it would have been nice to see the Halflings be able to craft armor imbued for their god and also some non-imbued BD cultural. (Ditto for Wood Elves.)

As for Halfling Clerics, they worship Bristlebane rather than Karana, so they probably intend for them to wear Dwarven armor rather than add a set made by Halflings.

Anyone who's spent time in Misty Thicket may have seen the bixie queen, a spawn in one of the towers in the Great Wall. The queen commonly drops a stinger; her very rare drop, however, is "a pilfered parchment", which looks to have been torn from a longer tome. It reads as follows:

"wiped the ale from his flowing tunic and sneered.

'Ye don't really think,' Brell went on, 'that th' harlot Tunare has an ogre's hope of defeating the Prince in single combat? Ha!'

'Not sure,' said Bristlebane as he puffed on his pipe, 'curious things are afoot. Nature is clever, of course; and don't imagine that a wee man mightn't teach such a lady a few tricks, prim though she may seem.' He winked gleefully.

'Prim? Hah!' Brell Serilis leaned across the planked table; his beard glistened. 'Arr!' he spat, 'care ta make a wager? If old Solly falters, I'll turn off the forges of Kaladim fer a whole year! Aye! But, if nose-in-th'-air can't keep her forests out of the flame, then fer th' end of days yer priests will wear armor made by men of Brell! Come, fuzzy wee man, make yer wager!' "

So that's the story. As history tells us, Solusek Ro laid waste to the forests of old Tunaria, creating what are now known as the Deserts of Ro. Bristlebane lost his celestial bar bet, and his priests must now suffer the ignominy of having to hire dwarves to make their cultural armor.

          Wow

Good job Frabbens, that makes a lot of sense. Still hurts, but I see.

I knew that the Bixie Queen was there for some reason!!! I've killed her twice over the 4 years I've been playing. Never seen that parchment or heard of it before, but it gives a bit of information I had not known before. Thanks Frabbens.

Before this gets out of hand:

I made it up. The parchment above doesn't exist. Besides, everyone should know that Bristlebane never loses his bar bets.

However, there's no reasonable explanation for the disconnect (except, I guess, the fact that paladins and rangers are new in Rivervale, so the halfling BD tailoring is designed to backfill for the new classes), so I figure my answer's as good as any other.

                Heh.

Am I the only one who assumed that Frabbens was kidding?

Why no halfling tailored cleric gear for halfling clerics? Umm...designers play halfling druids and didn't want competition for acorns? Seriously I don't know, seems like a blunder more than an omission. Who knows, maybe they'll fix that in the next patch (yeah right) ops:
Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*

Simple: Clerics arent a leather class <img src="http://www.boomspeed.com/sinuuyanea/dcrazz.gif" alt="YOU ever see a cleric in all leather armor live for more than 15 seconds?">

                          Neither are rangers and paladins.

However, rangers are considered a "natural" class, and Halflings arent known for their smithing skills. Tailoring, on the other hand, is a natural trait for a culture such as theirs.

So, go buy some armor from Zopharr already! <img src=http://www.boomspeed.com/sinuuyanea/dcrazz.gif alt="I get a 10% cut for each sale I send him...">

But Halflings do make a plate class line of items in the Stormreapers Steelweave line. Why not just make a version where you slip in a different imbued gem and get Underfoot Steelweave or something like that. Or why can we not make an unimbued version. Also Rangers may be considered a natural class, but Paladins are definitely not.
