  • The best Place to get HQ Bear pelts with out buying them

Ok here is whats up...I am a level 21 Druid and working on my Tailoring.
My skill right now in 48....I have been working on cured silks witch should take me to 88 but for some reason I got you can no longer increase your skill by making this item....well of course I did a  on that. So I am not sure were to go...if Cured silks do trivial at 48 then my next step would be Hand Made Back Packs or something and if that is the case I need a good place to get them at...one that would work for my level...I have hunted in WC for HQ bear pelts and silks. Though I am not happy with the low drop rate of the HQ pelts...I have gotten 2 drops being there for at least a hour or more every day seven days strait. finally i switched to EK and just went after my silks I needed off of the Crag Spiders.

Any ideas info or advice would be GREATLY Helpful

It is not how fast you level but the quality of leveling that maters. Ya right I know level slower then a snail but hey no one is perfect

Actually, I don't think you want to skill up in HMBs. HQ bear pelts are the hardest HQ pelt to get. If I were you I would farm HQ cat pelts and make tailored quivers to well over 100. Much easier to get enmass. If you are adament about making HMBs to skill up go to Shadeweavers Thicket just outside Shar Vahl and farm HQ hopper hides. They make the same sort of backpack and they drop a LOT more frequently than the bear pelts. Unless they nerfed it last time I hunted/farmed there. lol

Of the old world pelts .. even then HQ Bear isnt toughest to get .. HQ Lion is far more rare.

There some other rare HQ pelts in velious etc that are pretty rare but none that are actively persued by tailors.

To get to 95 I swear by greyhopper hides. When I started playing again (I stopped before pelts stacked and had a tailor over 100 skill - lol, everything's so easy now) I did research on tailoring. So when I did xp in marus sera at roughly your level I asked if I could loot the hopper hides. No one seemed to object and if I didn't loot them people would let them rot rather than take time away from killing to check them. Ended up getting 6 levels, 4 stacks of LQ and 2 and half stacks of normal greyhopper hides over there. Also had a lot of bodies rot as we were killing too fast to loot at times. LQ got made into padding for future smithing once my skill was past 60ish and then made greyhopper armor from 88 to 95. Had to make one trip back to marus sera to farm but it only took a little while to get the 10 or so hides I needed for the last skillup.

Getting trade components and xp at the same time in marus sera rocked, it's not often I get to do that and compaired to the 5 hours in CC farming (by that time) greenies for silk the rockhoppers were a joy even though it's a small range. The best part is that it reduced the time I had to spend in EK getting HQ cat pelts, two big killing trips there were all I needed for both the quiver part of my skill up and later the Wu part - which was a pleasant surprise I can tell you!

Edit: Oh but if you really are serious about skilling up on backpacks use the gukta quest to trade in your MQ bear pelts for HQ bear pelts. It's not a lot but considering the rarity of HQ bear pelts it's better than skinning them down for padding IMO.

Edit2: Doh, thank you atonic you are quite right. I corrected my post. That'll teach me to post at 5am.

          Re: on Bear pelts

Thank you so much for the info that is going to be a big help...I do not really have to skill up on Hand Made Back Packs...I will take all of your advice.

Save the LQ and MQ skins, also.

There is a froglok in Gukta, Dar Forager Lumen, or something like that (the guy who sells the mushrooms and then when he is out of stock will go forage for 30 min and return).

Anyway, you can turn in 3 LQ skins or pelts to him and he will return a MQ. You can also turn in 3 MQ pelts or skins and he will return a HQ. It doesn't work with ruined, though

i'd reccommend, go back to EK, hunt spiders and lions, wolves if ya just wanna.

keep all pelts that drop that arenot ruined.

save silks for your Wu's armor skillups (coming after the quivers), skillup on quivers using the HQ cat pelt, skin down all wolf pelts to lq, skin down the MQ cat pelts to LQ. got to either ferrot of everfrost, get ya some spiderling silks, and combine all the lq pelts with threads to make leather padding (you should be triv to these). sell the leather padding in bazaar for 30p each and make ya a profit there for your time which was already spent farming what you actually needed. not to mention, you'll probably need that plat to by your vials of mana to do wu's with.

p.s. leather padding is used in smithing for fine plate armor (trivs at 188)

so if you are a smith also, save the padding for yourself, or give it to a friend/guildmate or sell it. after all, it's your stuff.

If you have Luclin, you can also use the HQ Rockhopper Hides to make Hand Made Backpacks. The drop rate of HQ Rockhopper Hides is alot better than the HQ Bear Pelts. But as others have said I do not recommend making the Hand Made Backpacks. I recommend making Quivers, which can take you to 115 or the Greyhopper Armor which can take you to 95.

In reference to your "you can no longer increase your skill by making this item", might it have been a mistake and you made a Raw Silk Armor piece? They trivial at 36.

like pockets mentions if you have luclin you can hunt rockhoppers and make backpacks with HQ rockhopper hides and pattern, also save the flawless and higher to skill up after Wu, your also going to have to found acrylia ore not a easy thing to do

I've got a few HQ cat pelts out hunting cats, but as many as 40 hq cat pelts from a single vendor I bought out in the east commons. So generally I don't actually "hunt" mobs for the stuff anymore.

If you only sell some of them in the bazaar, it makes up for it. I think I put some HQ cat pelts on a bazaar vendor for 20 plat, they were gone pretty fast.

I got lucky, the one vendor I found with 40 hq cat pelts or so got me to near max tailoring for quivers. I started about about 75 skill I think, getting to 112 maybe (max quiver skill is 115? ) Ah just checked my magelo, I got to 110 tailor.

I agree about quivers, though. Even buying the hides from a merchant, making the quiver then immediately selling quiver back to merchant, it was cheap. Lately the servers are not up for long enough at any one time for vendors to get stocked up with hidden pelts as much =/ Plus there is less chance since fewer slots are not showing now.
