  • Skill Up Suggestions

    Good evening/morning...

I see mention of being able to skill up with new LoY recipes - but am not really sure which ones are being referred to. Already 250 brewing, and 250 baking (gm toys for both), looking to get going on my third and fourth(tailoring and smithing) in the next few days...

Specifically, the recipes that don't require silks...

Hmm... I can give 3 answers:

    Short: You're kidding, right?

Medium: Smithing and Tailoring to 250 in a few days? I expect it will take me 2 years to do those two skills, since they require either thousands of hours of farming or hundreds of thousands of platinum. I exaggerate neither of those points.

Long: You don't want to farm spider silks, you say? There is a vendor bought route to 66, woven mandrake, and then to 76, picnic baskets. You can generally buy spider silk in the bazaar if you don't want to farm it. Thirdly, you can farm other things to get skill if silk isn't your thing. I should warn you, however, that you *will* have to do an extreme amount of farming for each point past 158, or you will spend massive amounts of money buying the farmed items from people in the Bazaar. There really is no easy way to raise tailoring skill past around 158. The Legacy of Ykesha expansion has slightly lessened the difficulty for some races, but it hardly a "couple of days" task.

My suggestion: do Fletching, Pottery, and Jewelcraft first if you want a couple more toys, by which I assume you mean Tradeskill Trophies.

For the most part, Healblade is 98% correct. I'd just like to add one comment about Tailoring:

Anyone can skillup on the Gold Ribbon combines to get from 158 to 167 VERY easily and inexpensively. All you have to have is either the ability to forage or be able to buy a stack or two of ingredients in the Bazaar. The rest is purchased from Vendors.

I think what he was saying was that he was planning to start working on smithing and tailoring in the next few days, not that he expected to complete them within that time period.

It is possible to get smithing/tailoring to 250 in less than a week each. How? You are super rich and just buy all the material.

I did smithing for my mage to 242 pre may 8th nerf in about a week. I farm all the pelts that I can get and make leather paddings, yes, that was lucky. Now, I have to do it again for myself. I can either spend a lot of time farm all the material, or I can just buy my way up to 250 doing sickles. I decide to farm though.

I just did tailoring from 152 to 250 in 6 weeks. I farmed more than 50% of the material and buy/receive donations for material in return of smithing combine service.

There's no secret to tradeskills, you either rich, you can pl, or you can be patience and farm your stuff. Either way, you'll get what you want.
