  • WL, drop rates and success rate tigeraptor

I have everything ready for tigeraptor combines cept the pelts. I am guessing that I will be able to hunt these beasts as a 45 ranger (fear kiting of course). What I need to know is:

    1. Anything here run sow speed?
    2. Anything that agroes often or from a long way away?
    3. Best place to hunt the pelts?
    4. Is skyshrine the only viable way to clear agro?
    5. Drop rate on pelts?
    6. Success rate on tigeraptor combines at say tailoring 210, 220, 230 etc?

I would greatly appreciate your help with this.
    Thanks in advance

    Answer to 1)

Black Panthers run at SoW speed. They may not aggro you but they didn't like my Shadowknight in Wolf Form.

      1. Anything here run sow speed?
No clue since I always have SoE on.

      2. Anything that agroes often or from a long way away?
Black panther, Raptor always agro to me (tunare druid with pog faction, lvl 65)

      3. Best place to hunt the pelts?
I just use track and kill whatever I can

      4. Is skyshrine the only viable way to clear agro?
Kael too if you can run that far

      5. Drop rate on pelts?
very high drop rate. Most of them drop 2 each time.

      6. Success rate on tigeraptor combines at say tailoring 210, 220, 230 etc?
I haven't done any so I can't answer this question.

Yah, tigeraptors, black panthers and probably holgresh will aggro - all are easily dispatched. The haze panthers are tougher (also aggro) - but do kill them. Their pelts and eyes are quite rare and sell very well.

If you aren't Kael aligned, then you also need to watch for the 3 wandering named Priest giants, one of which paths fairly near the raptor area. Just check track when you get there; they should be dark blue if not higher to you. They do not see invis.

If you are Kael aligned, then steer clear of the 2 dragons, Wuoshi and...um...the other one. =) Neither wander unless someone has aggroed them - and they are easy to avoid (tho they have a big aggro radius).

Oh and the corrupted's (unicorn, panther and um...a third one) will also aggro. If they're up, just try to avoid them.

Success rate: I was 1 for 2 on tunics when I did a couple of combines around lvl 225ish. And got my last point in tailoring on tigeraptor masks. =)

At 45, the best place, maybe the only safe place, to hunt them will be right there near the entrance to SS.

Whoosh and Rolandil won't be close enough to agro you, unless someone trains Rol while running from Kael, if you're not on cov. Most of the normally dangerous mobs to watch for don't come to close to SS. The corrupteds probably the closest, but not close enough (the third is the faun, a rogue.. backstabs for double 750's... confirmed personally).

For droprate, yeh, they can drop 2.. but expect more along the lines of 1 pelt every 3-4.

You shouldn't have to much trouble fearkiting them, they have decent hp's, but not strong mr.. my level 30 ranger could get fear on them with minimal resists, although i couldn't do enough damage to them at that level...

You shouln't have any dangerous adds, other than maybe a second raptor; however, if you see a "holgresh starts to cast", i'd advise simply runnign for it.. those chain nuking monkeys can put a serious delay on christmas coming.

There are like 3-6 raptor spawns on the ledge right next to SS tunnel also, so easy pulling, fairly safe.

            1. Anything here run sow speed?

Not that I noticed, see answer to Q.3.

            2. Anything that agroes often or from a long way away?

The only extras you should get (see answer to Q.3) will be the wandering mercenary's, they kind of pop at the tunnel area to Skyshine. Unless V.I have fixed this.

            3. Best place to hunt the pelts?

Just outside the Skyshine Tunnel to the left, about 6 spawns. Just be aware there is a "daddy" raptor that spawns, its a few levels higher than the others. I can't remember its name, sorry. These mobs do have a fair few HP's, so I hope you can do some good DPS. And they also will hit you hard enough to cause you problems as well. They sit in pairs on a ledge, so you will need to be able to split them (Harmony works still I presume ?). I would be wary of hunting mobs deeper in the forest, at level 45 you will have to step carefully as mobs have a wide area of aggro, and you can get overwhelmed fast.

            4. Is skyshrine the only viable way to clear agro?

Are you refering to zoning ? If so yes.

            5. Drop rate on pelts?

Every 5 to 8 mobs. At worst you should get one every 10 drops, at best 2 to 3 every 10 mobs.

            6. Success rate on tigeraptor combines at say tailoring 210, 220, 230 etc?
Sorry I have not experienced that as yet.

              6) success rate. expect 50% at 250. I remember doing those when velious came out and didnt see an increase in success (over 5%) until 215 skill, but that was before skill mod. I'd say it'd be safe to start combining them at 210+5% with decent success.

                Thanks a lot everyone.

I could still use some more info on success rates if anyone has exp.

As far as aggro, if you are not Kael aligned, then there are mercenaries who start out in the tunnel to SS. It is best to med outside near the wall opposite the Raptor camp.

The raptors also drop raptor guts that are used in the Ice Forged Shackles quest. The drop rate for the guts is very rare -- I spent lvls 34-40 almost entirely there and saw just a single one drop. My ranger friend got the shackles and was very pleased with it.

Tigeraptor armor appears to have the same success rate as all the Velious armor. That means a 50% chance of success at skill 250, dropping down to a 10% chance of sucess at skill 200 (real skill, but assumes you use a Geerlok). I made a few pieces to give away to friends and as wedding gifts, most hides were wasted on Tigeraptor masks before Acrylia armor was introduced.

Success rate at 215 tailoring is about 15%.

The easy way to remember it is 5% success rate up to 205 skill. Then add 1% to success rate for every skillup.

i.e. 15% success rate at 215 skill, 30% success rate at 230 skill, 50% success rate at 250 skill.

The purists will point out some inaccuracies in this method... pfffft For example, you will be less successful on tunics than masks. That's because the trivial on tigeraptor products varies depending on the piece you make. In general, the more velium bits you need, the more difficult the piece is to make.

Drop rates average one in five. You will occasionally get two hides from one kill.

Watch out for Rapticor, the named tigeraptor.

The static spawns on the ledge near the Skyshrine zone are the easiest to hunt.

Ooh the mercenaries, forgot about them...they are on Kael faction and will give you negative Kael if you kill them.

And the...uh..pixie mob thingies will kill the holgresh pets too if one has aggroed on you - kinda cool. But holgresh don't have many hps - I could usually one shot kill them with Summer's Flame - so 1400ish hps.
