Help with Misty Acorns!

Hi guys, I am a level 35 druid on the Bristlebane Server working on my tailoring, which at the moment stands at 161. As I am not high in level there aren't as many options for skilling up for me as there are for others. With this in mind I have started working on the Halfling Cultural armor...Imbued Studded Vale stuff.

The thing that I need help with is some information on Misty Acorns....at 101 Forage skill it takes me about 1-2 hours just to forage 1 Acorn. I have no been able to find any groundspawns for these.

Any help would be much aprreciated!! Thanks in advance!!

Unfortunately, it is a rare and random forage in the zone, and how many you obtain in any given hour is going to be very random.

The ground spawns are likely being snagged quickly either by others working on their tailoring or clueless younglings who snag anything they find on the ground. (You're looking for bright green diamonds on the ground, and I've found some rarely in both the newbie area as well as beyond the wall.)

My recommendation is to randomly trying ooc'ing or auctioning in the zone, and offer up buffs or cash in return for the acorns. Making friends with the younglings can often pay off.

As a druid, if you're spending any time playing taxi (i.e., sitting on your server's taxi/port channel), bind yourself in Misty, and gate back there between passengers. That way you're getting forage time in as well as hopefully making some money with paying passengers.

When I was working on wood elf cultural, I would load up with celestial essences components and emeralds and go sit in a corner of Lesser Faydark, combinding CE's, imbuing emeralds and foraging for morning dew. It's maddening to sit and do nothing - if taxi'ing is not your thing (tho great idea, DenMom =), you might try working on other mindless combines while mashing that forage button.

If you're really desperate (and you have a fast internet connection [i.e. DSL or cable] and a fast computer), you can forage, auto equip/drop in a bag, and relog. Forage is always up when you log in and depending on the speed of your computer/connection, it can be faster (and certainly more annoying) to camp and log back in between forages.*

*I only did this once after I had transferred servers. I had a unique opportunity to get my epic back, or rather, again, from some new friends whom had redone the entire druid epic for fun. Anyway, I had to get the four forages and then do the turn in's. Since I was in a hurry, I did the camp/forage thing. It did go faster but it was not fun.

Plant an alt, or just port yourself back there. And auction for them every now and then.

Many new players (non-twinked) will spend around a week in Misty before moving onto other zones, once they see the auction and offer of cash they will hold onto them for you.

Otherwise look for them yourself (painful), and try and keep track of where you found each one. Then re-visit each spawn spot.

As a halfling tailor, you probably have to raise other skills too. I make sure to take periodic trips to Rivervale to make Vale sewing kits, jumjum beer, and Misty Thicket Picnics. This helps me feel like I'm doing something while I /auction in both zones.

Other than the previously mentioned methods, here are a few more tips:

1) If/When you find a groundspawn acorn, forage in that same spot AFTER picking up the acorn. I don't know if it's just my mind playing tricks on me, but I SEEM to have a higher chance of foraging an acorn after having picked one up.

2) Play with your monitor settings and in-game settings to make those green patches stand out. It's not a drastic improvement, but it's something.

3) I haven't actually tried this, but I hear that non-infravision races have an easier time seeing the groundspawn. Possibly combined with #2 this could be very useful.

4) Bazaar. Not sure about Bristlebane, but on Rathe, I can occassionally find someone with a stack of acorns. Of course, prices fluctuate wildly (5p - 20p per acorn), but it's worth a look if you're there anyway.

I forage the epic thingy in Misty Thicket much more than I do Acorns.

Also, I presume you meant Vale Reinforced Leather, since the studded trivials in the low 100s.

What I did was make some pieces and offer them in exchange for multiples of acorns -- 10 acorns per piece, maybe giving a bracer as a "starter" for only a few. Then, you will have newbie druids doing the trading/ground-spawning for you. Unfortunately, by the time Halfling druids get forage, they have normally moved on to other zones. I actually bound myself for many many levels in the Dalnir Tunnels, so I could clear the brutes when I started play, finished play, and whenever I got bored of what I was doing.

Making CE is a good idea while you forage/clear -- or work on fletching or some other tradeskill that has a container. I have one of each of the collapsed containers --- I just switch in what I need to use.

I Have another piece of advice from a level 37 druid at the same skill. While it's tough to farm acrylia and hoppers at 35, you can kite HG's for money. On Kane Bayle, acrylia tunics sell for enough to fund making several more acrylia items from bazaar supplied materials. If you can save enough to make one tunic, you can keep rolling over the proceeds to make more acrylia. And the HG's should still be giving you XP, so you can level up and farm your own soon.

Of course, if acrylia prices have collapsed on your server, forget what I just said.

I spend countless hours foraging LFay for Morning Dew. Curse Equestrielle the Corrupted! (level 40 mob ROFL, yeah right) I've finally given in and become a murderer of Faeries. But that's a different story.

You might try getting yourself the Foraging Machette. It is a quest item out of Katta Castellum. It has a +10% foraging modifier. I can't say it will actually help any, but it sure as heck can't hurt. You need four foraged items (invis and forage from the zone line).

Also, if you aren't already doing this, hotkey your foraging to one of your movement keys. Circling the zone rather then sitting, standing, foraging, sitting, standing, foraging helps me keep what little sanity I have left. When I get real bored, I kill orcs.

BTW, my Ranger does the foraging, not the Cleric.

the horror of misty acorns

after the past week of hunting misty acorns ie running around aimlessly and picking them up and mashing forage I have learned two things, one the people at soe are sadistic, two the misty acorns don't show up at the same spot. I learned number 2 while roaming around misty smashing forage and scooping up all little green diamonds on the ground. I thought I was being smart getting the loc of the spawn point, I'd go find as many as i could <about 10> then head back to the starting point,...no acorn, but look not 10 feet away a lovely green diamond, i went to next spawn area,..no luck i roamed around in a large circle from my loc and a good distance away was a green diamond. it's maddening. I double checked my locs to make sure that I was hitting the right ones just to be sure. Right locs but no nice shimmering diamonds, but every few feet away from the origional loc is a diamond, so i had to begin the hunt again. So, if you're going after Misty Acorns, don't just mash forage run around looking for green diamonds, eventually you can find them,...one by one.

One trick not mentioned that works well for me is to get a light source of some kind, i.e. shiny brass shield, light stone Halo of light etc..., and look at night for the ground spawn, the light source makes it flash bright yellow, for a second, & very easy to see from a distance away. It still take a couple seconds to find when you get close.

I spent two hours for 6 acorns.....I've hence decided to buy all my acorns in the bazaar. *g* Furthermore...I've decided the same for brute hides due to their rarity IF...the !@#$! on my server will get it into their heads that the're not worth 500pp per!!!

The problem with HQ brute hides is that they're also used for the high-end halfling cultural armor so people think they're more valuable than they are, when really it's blue diamonds that make up the cost.

As for the old Misty Acorns, I got 3 in 1.5 hours and one of those was bought from a newbie.

I know, I know, nobody ever said this would be easy hehe.
