  • For the Charming Tailor: Dire Charm pets for quick farming

As an enchanter, there's nothing more convenient than having a kickass pet for farming supplies. Since Dire Charm is a great way to get a pet that's much better than the summoned one, I thought I'd start a thread listing some of the good DCable pets in some popular farming zones.

By request, Druid-DCable pets are now included as well. Necros, if you'd like to offer up a DC target that's better than your summoned pet, I'll gladly include it as well.

Crystalline Caverns (crystalline silk, small pieces of velium): Historian Baenek

East Karana (Silks, HQ lion pelts): Proon, or a hill giant if you can't get Proon to spawn. Druids: Griffons.

Mons Letalis (rockhopper hides): a mature rockhopper.

Velketor's Labyrinth (blocks of velium, small pieces of velium): An Icepaw Kobold or Icepaw Kobold. Either of these can be shaman. Test with Theft of Thought to make sure they're spellcasters before charming.

Wakening Lands (numerous hides and pelts, shimmering gems for the Coldain Shawl Quest): A Wounded Storm Giant. Doesnt' Dual Wield, but has a good number of HP and a remarkable regen rate. Druids: a black unicorn. (not the name of the mob, just the color)

Any chance we could extend this to Druids as well?

Absoultely! I'll keep druid targets in the list as well, if any druids would like to contribute to the thread.

Re: For the Enchanter Tailor: Dire Charm pets for quick far

If you have a level 60 character handy getting them to con things is helpful. Anything that cons light blue to them will be DCable.

Another trick that not everyone knows about, and this works with any commandable pet (mage, necro, charm, etc.)

Hotkeys. I'll use crag spiders as an example. Make a hotkey that says:

            /pet kill a_crag_spider

Clicking this will put the closest crag spider on your pets agro list. If the crag spider is in range, the pet will charge out and kill it. If the crag is out of range, the pet will stand ignore it until crag moves into agro range or until you move the pet close enough. This is better than tracking in some ways because your pet will charge to the closest one and you can just follow it.

You should also make hotkeys for each type of placeholder you want to clear and hit those just as frequently as the mob you're after.

You don't need the full name:

            /pet kill a_lion

will cause your pet to attack 'a lion patriarch' or 'a lion matriarch'. It will not cause it to go after 'a rogue lion' however.

Similarly '/pet kill a_crag' would send it after crag spiders and crag snakes.

Forgive me if I have some of the mob names wrong. It's been a while since I've used this trick in EK.

Corrupted unicorn in Wakening Lands is a great druid DC pet. It's a SK that harmtouches, fears, blinds, and casts dots.

In East Karana, if you are lucky you can get the GRIFFON. MUCH better farmer for that zone. But the Griffon is considerable rare.

Any idea what the placeholder might be? Cyclops (who is also rare)?

Better yet, you can dire charm a mature rockhopper in mons letalis, then use sense animals to be pointed at the nearest rockhopper. Pelts dropped a bit faster for me this way than using a dire charmed rockhopper in dawnshroud.

I don't have a character with Dire Charm, but as far as I know the Corrupted Unicorn is level 60. Much too high for DC.

Not the Corrupted unicorn, just a unicorn... but the SK version is the Black graphic one. ( not the white )

I have used this as a pet when i first got DC for some Wakening Lands fun, and it was awsome.... when he fears i cna then follow too and try to skill up my 2HB

Most of the farming spots do not have undead better than our pets so most of us necro's stick to our pets.
Come on guys, one more pull. What is the worst that could happen?

I am still saving my points for dire charm and look forward to it but as a druid I have found PBoAE to be the most efficient for farming in green zones.

For EK i have Howler and Upheavel memmed and no damage shield! ( they can get too low on health and start the death walk away.. I want them to follow!)

Next i run around and hit everything of interest. up to 15 crags and carrions spiders for instance or more. then I channel their hits and kill all with upheaval. I dont snare them to save time.

This has seemed much faster than using a pet.
( too bad the pet cant loot for us)

For CC spiders I snare them all and do the same. Up to 10 or so at once.

<edit> I then do the same for the place holders </edit>
