I would suggest stonebrunt for MQ and HQ cat pelts, plus lion meat, if you can't get to stonebrunt, then EK

DO NOT GO TO STONEBRUNT AT LVL 12! (thinking of the horrendous (sp*) CR you will have to do is making my stomach turn)

If you are a class that solo's well EK can be your best friend. The lions/patriarchs/matriarchs should be excellent xp and the patriarchs and matriarchs have very good drop rates of HQ pelts. Stick near the bridge and pull wanderers. Just watch out for the gorge hounds and dark stalkers for a few more levels. If you aren't the best solo class you can try to drag a group down there or you can head over to NK and pull the lions to the north guard tower. Just remember if you pull a griff to the guards there to head for the spires while they are beating on it...those guards out in the middle of the zone aint to strong.

Another thing that you might want to think about doing is just leveling up for a while. Just remember the saying every tailor lives by.....

"how do you get tailoring to 250?"
"well, first you level a necro to 50 to farm components"

EK would be a nice zone to gather Cat Pelts, but I'm not sure how much luck you would have at level 12. You may want to try to get a few more levels first. If at level 12 you want to gather your pelts, I'd try East Commons. While there may not be alot of Cats to kill, there are a few Lions and Pumas running around.

Level 14 or 15 would be when I would think about going to East Karana. But watch out for those Gorge Hounds...

            Pelt places

Another excellent place to pelt hunt at your level (EK having already been mentioned) is Western Karana, close to Qeynos Hills and off toward the Miller farm and the central region of the zone. You have young lions and lionesses, which I believe still give XP at that level (been a long time, sorry), as well as lions and lionesses. You won't have the patriarchs/matriarchs to contend with, though you will need to keep an eye out for wandering bandits, and be careful to avoid bandit camps. The only thing with EK (and NK and SK for that matter) are the higher-level, wandering mobs that aggro anything your level - griffawns, hill giants, angry wolves, stampeding elephants, gnoll reavers. In a few levels you'll be better equipped to handle some of these beasts, but for now, I'd stick to Western Karana.

            Hope that helps,

Also, remember to hold on to the LQ pelts you get, as you can trade them in to the NPC in Gukta for MQ pelts at a 3 for 1 ratio.

If you're in your 40's in tailoring and around lvl 12... there are a few options. If cash isn't a problem for you, and you have found out how to make decent pp at your lvl, I reccomend you start brewing heady kiolas and make cured silk, it sells for a semi-decent return to vendors, and only requires killing spiders for silk.

So as kind of a compromise, you can hunt in EK, where pelts and silks are not hard to come by. While EK is more known for silks, and SK is more known for its pelts, I feel that hunting in EK is a reasonable way to make great xp for your lvl, and you could probably trivial cured silk armor by the time the mobs you'll be hunting go green. I know crag spiders are still blue in the early 20's, and that's the mother of all silk droppers.

So in short, hang in EK and enjoy good xp and tradeskill component access.

Not sure about your race, but if its a "good" race you could hunt Misty Thicket for 2 more levels. Relativly safe, and the wolves and bears drop occasional hides.

Hunt the Karanas till all of the hide and silk bearing critters turn light blue. Keep all of the non-ruined hides you get (esp HQ Lion Hides, you'll want those later.), and make the low quality hides into leather padding for plat. (sell in the bazaar for 10-20 pp each). After you trivial studded leather, start making medium leather into padding as well (or do the Gukta pelt conversion quest if you don't mind the walk...).

...at this point I'd recomend going to HHK and taking a short break from tailoring to level a bit. It should go very fast as long as you group and hunt the goblins in the basement. Also, some decent coin to be made here from drops...or you could head to Marus Seru and hunt greyhoppers instead. They drop low quality hides and Greyhopper hides frequently.

Once your aproaching your 30s I think its safe to travel to stonebrunt mountains. Hunt cats here for hides. Hunt bears as well, leave the gorillas alone. Hunt Kobolts for cash (again, drops are worth quite a bit).

Once your done in SB, head to Crystal Caverns to hunt Crystal Spiders for their silk.
When that starts going trivial head to Jagged Pine and hunt poachers, they drop mostly low to high quality hides. Alternativly, you could head to Dawnshroud and hunt Rockhoppers for their hides, and maybe spend a little time farming Tenebous Mountains for acrylia.

If you haven't given up on tailoring by now, start hunting mobs in velious for tailoring drops. I'd suggest Othmir if you have the stomach for killing the cute fuzzy little critters (I don't), otherwise all of the velious 250 recipees are more or less difficult to obtain materials for so pick what ya like. Ummm...could anyone actualy stomach doing all of this?

In general: look at all of the recipees, BANK EVERYTHING. You'll wind up using it all eventualy. Start a tailoring component mule, hopefully you'll need it! Wait as long as possible to start using silk for Wu's, you'll need to do alot of combines to get to 156 and it only gets worse from there. Good luck.
Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*

There’s a lot of excellent advice in this thread. Instead of repeating what’s already been said, I’ll make a couple of observations. Stonebrunt is an excellent zone for hunting animals. The problem is that it can be too good. I always had trouble finding a spot where I could kill one mob without attracting one or more adds. Mobs wonder almost everywhere in this zone. And without SoW you can die fairly easily if you’re of a level to get XP from the mobs. You can use the kitty city as a base, but don’t expect them to help you if you’re in trouble. Now that there’s a ship at the dock, you’ll have two places you can zone if you get in over your head, but they’re both on the same general side of the zone. So try to keep their locations in mind as you hunt, as you’ll likely have a good run ahead of you if you need to zone.

Speaking of having to run for your life, if you are in a guild you might see if they would be willing to help you camp the Ancient Cyclops in the desert of Ro for the JBoots quest. If your guild can help you with this quest it’s very much worth the time and money to do for any class that does not get Spirit of Wolf. The added running speed will save your life time after time. The quest isn’t cheap, but if you can save for it or get a loan from a friend, I don’t think you’ll be sorry for the investment.

I wish you the best of luck.
