  • Raising Tailoring to 200 for a Woodie Ranger

    Hello all,

    Please let me introduce myself,

I'm a Ranger who loves Trade skills and I intend on getting sooner or later the Blessed coldain Shawl :-)

My Tailoring is 149 at the moment, and I'm currently working on Wu's sleeves/ tunic to get my skill to 159. Could you please tell me what would be the fastest/cheapest route to 200 skill ?

    acrylia studded masks to 188,
then acrylia reinforced masks to 200

or mithril reinforced leather mask (trivial 215) ?

    Thanks in advance,

I think the generally accepted answer is to finish up wu's ( 158 )and then take your chances with the shawls, because that's close enough to most trivials (except 6), and at that point it's easier to get more shawl stuff than farm things to raise tailoring.

FWIW, I'm a wood elf ranger with 149 tailoring also, with shawl 6. I'll prolly get to 150 or 158 before trying shawl 8 combines, since I have some extra supplies for the shawls.

I'm doing the same thing. But depending on funds, I might try to make some ribbons just to up my tailoring a little bit more.
But yeah, most people finish up the wu's, grab a geerlok and buffs, and just give it a go

I already have the 5th shawl (with about 80 silk threads left in bank), and I only have to get sirens hair to attempt 6th

        gratz !

While we're at it, did you solo the sirens or did you killed them in a group ? I've got a handy Extended Range focus item that might allow me to deal with them in a druidish way:
        Root,
Ensare (you never know what can happen),
DoT them (Stinging Swarm+ Swarm of pain+ Immolate= 600ish hp/minute) and nuke them with Firestrike to finish them off/ speed the process a little bit.

Does it sound like a viable option to you ?

G'luck to you for your combines, and thx for answering

I did Golden Ribbons to 167 and it only costs 31p per attempt and you can get half of that back by selling to a merchant. With 280 WIS it was 6 combines per skill up from 158 to 167.

I did the sirens with a shaman friend of mine. Most of the time she pulled the up top, but I pulled a few up top with snare (and one with firestrike, oops).
The main thing is having magic resist as high as possible (or at least a bit over 100), since they charm.

58 Wood Elf Ranger Here. I did:

              Wu's to 158
              Nightmare Silk Strings to 162
              Acrylia Studded to 188
Solstice Robes to 200 with some Acrylia Reinforced and Artic Wyvern Hide

The robes are a decent way to go because silk is always for sale in the bazaar reletively cheap (5pp each or so). The expensive part of the robe combine is returned on a failure so you get lots of attempts per successful robe at a cost of 3 silks and 3 emeralds.

The only problem is you will need to level up a druid alt to 30 to imbue the emeralds for you but you would be surprised how effective a Ranger with KEI can be at powerleveling.

Anyway that's just the way I did it, not the cheapest but it goes pretty quick.
