I made my own celestial essence, and had bots for imbuing emeralds and silver, as well as a JC bot for the chains. I bought all the silk swatches in the bazaar.

Gem Studded Chains - 500p each (almost exactly a 50% success rate at 250 skill)
Sacred Tunare Silk - 26p each (this includes failures in subcombines)

Total sacred tunare silk cost - 149058p
Total gem studded chain cost - 143500p
Total cost - 292558p

I have sold 102 robes for an average price of 800p for a total of 81600p recouped.

Current total net cost: 210958.

If you sell all those robes, you will make back about 229k, which means you spent about 60ish k.

Geerlock

This is the route that I am taking to skillup my tailoring, I am currently at 196. These numbers are exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for taking the time to record them.

I am on Bristlebane. There are actually a ton of them for 550pp. Some peeps still has some for 1k, but I doubt they will ever sell it.

Also, there are tons of acrylia leather armors for sale. Very cheap I might add. 400pp for studded cloaks! And there are like tons of them.

wow those are great numbers, i have been doing robes (not exclusive) and am up to 218 tailoring (darn real life need more time for sewing!). This gives me an idea of what to look for for thhe future

Personally I have been doing it piece meal. I have been mostly farming silks, imbuing my own emeralds, using an enchanter bot for chains, and making my ce's. Up until about two weeks ago, robes were selling very nicely around 2K each. So I had made money bby selling them as I went.

I never used a geerlok for robe combines (I would have been happier if I didn't have so many successes!). I only used a geerlok for the ethereal silk swatches, since they are skill restricted combines.

I used proceeds from 250 baking and 250 brewing to generate about 100k for my tailoring skillups. I played the market for a number of months as well, generating another 100k from buying low and selling high, making a profit of 10-20% in each transaction.

Skilling up cost me about 75k more than I had anticipated. That's mostly from the market crash on robes that happened on Drinal (went from 2k to 1k in the last couple of months, and continues to go down).

Like Chiad I made my own celestial essence, had bots for imbuing emeralds and silver, as well as a JC bot for the chains. A friend and I farmed all the silk in the Ek or Uguk we collected 6300 silks to make 1000 Sacred Tunare silks (we farmed extra silks to figure in pre-final combine failures).

Gem Studded Chains - 500p each (Had a slightly lower sucess rate at 45% at 250 skill)
Sacred Tunare Silk - 26p each (Failure rate on 3180 of these combines was 4.28%. This works out to 1 in 20 basically.)
Blessed dust of Tunare - Failure rate in 3000 combines was 9.96%. This works out to 1 in 10 on this pottery combine. I find this interesting in that it was double the tailoring failure rate on items I couldn't get skill ups on :? )

Total sacred tunare silk cost - 18824p
Total gem studded chain cost - 111705p
Total cost - 130529p

I haven't yet starting selling the robes but I have roughly 200 of them and on 7th Hammer the are selling anywhere from 900 to 1.5kp.

While there is deep satisfaction in getting to 250 in tailoring the cost blows me away compared to the other tradeskills, hehe.

I was one of the pre-nerf Gm tailors on Drinal , but was happy to see them add the robes for skill ups. It was the time that used to take so long to get supplies and the only way to skill up was Velious leathers, and soon hopper stuff. I figured it cost me around 300k to get to about 240, then 50k or so to finish to 250. My max wis was 255, and boy o boy would I have killed to have a 1:21 skill up rate from 160-250. I bet it was more like 1:60 for alot of those skill ups. At one point I went 617 combines from skill 191-193 ... and that was velious/reinforced acrylia back when we only could farm the ore in TB caves. :P

I'm glad I quit making the robes when they hit 2k, becuase we all don't enjoy selling for a loss and not recouping your investment.

Guess it goes to show you that the smarter you (305 int) the faster juu lernzz.

Thanx , I was considering this route and Now see it may not be cost effective. Back in the 2k per robe days it would have been but one person has scuttled the market on my server.
