  • Jewlcrafter looking for advice

I am a GM jewcrafter (enchanter) and I'm looking at gem studded chains to fuel my smithing addictions.

What would a good price to sell Gem Studded Chain be? The material costs are about 300p. Given a 75% success (hoping) that puts my cost at 400.

Would some one pay 500p each for a chains or is that out of the question?
What about selling Vials of Mana?

You put this in the tailoring section might get a better answer in the Jewelry section.

Last run of chains 250 chanter with trophy = 14 success out of 40 attempts. If you have AA ability for jewelry they say you get a 75 percent success rate. People would pay 500pp for chains(mine with failures cost me 910pp per success). Vials if priced right sell very well. Price the vials 25 percent over cost and you should do well.

I am currently a gm baker working on tailoring now

GSCs-good price is 500, assuming you do better than 70% gonna be rough with out JCM points

Vials of mana- good option tailors and potters use them for various recipes so there will always be a market, provided you price reasonably, usually 25% percent over cost of ingredients or up to 50% depending on your bazaar

      good luck

        Re

without JCM, i usually get a 50% success rate (averaged out over many many combines) which puts the cost between 500-600 pp per. You might want to look at the price of ceremonial solstice robes on your server. If robe prices are down (and they are now on most servers) then you won't be able to sell for lots of cash. I think its kindof silly to see robes for 450 pp and chains for 800 pp. Not many ppl are going to take that much of a loss (at least ones that don't have money to blow ).

Hmm. I have a jeweler friend make JSC's for me. She's made probably 4 stacks of them for me now, and the most she's ever failed is 1 per stack. She's 250 and has the trophy... dunno about the AA.

While this may be an obvious reminder to others, it's something I forgot for a while while making robes... DON'T equip your geerlok or trophy! Your objective is probably not to make a robe, but to get the skill hit... and with robes the fails are relatively cheap. One day I was grumbling to myself about how many successes I was having and the lights finally went on.

          duuuuh!

Sorry... I was of course referring to the chains made from stacks of gems.
In my head, I still tend to refer to things in quantity of 20 as a stack... so when I had over a stack of emeralds, a stack of sapphires, a stack of rubies and 20 silver worked chains... in my head she's makin me a stack.
Still, she has never failed more than once per "stack". I get the impression from this thread that most people are experiencing a higher fail rate and I was just curious as to why.

Without JC aa, you are looking at 60% success rate in general unless you are lucky.

With JC aa even just lvl 1, I've seen success rate between 80-90%.

I borrow a JCer for chains and give him 5k for 20 attempts average 250 per attempt. Since without JC AA you have a 50/50 shot at making chains base minimum for break even is 500pp each. It would of course depend on your server and the current price that robes sell for. Most recently on Drinal I've seen chains for 750 and robes for 1k. If the price on robes keeps falling it will be harder to justify the cost of the chains.
