Owlbear Tunics

I have noticed that no one ever mentions using Owlbear Tunics for skilling up from 115 to c.135.

It seems to me that this would be much easier than Wu's especially for the mana vial impaired. The components are easily farmed and the quest for the tool only taking a couple of hours at most. With smiths frequently farming wailing substance, getting the pelts is almost trivial now (a friend and I came up with 55 pelts in one day without work(30 on a vendor and 25 from substance farmers)) to complete the quest. It's simple to farm Shadeling Silks and the only cost of the combine is the pattern (5sp). And wouldn't it be nice to not have to brew all those Heady Kiolas?

Is this a viable route past a huge chunk of the dreaded Wu's or am I missing something? The only drawback I see is they are nodrop so there is no sales potential but then again I've seen little potential in Wu's either.

Actually, from 115 to 131 people do Crystalline Silk; faster raises, easy to farm components, and no other skills required.

I considered going this route but I quickly realized that regular owlbear pelts are not very common at all, getting 3 or 4 pelts per clearing of the whole owlbear area in Hollowshade... and you need 2 pelts per tunic.
It's an alternate, yes, but the farming time is considerably hgher than crystaline.

I personally used the Owlbear tunics to skill up to 133. I dreaded going to CC just to get the silks and they cost way to much for what you can make with them (IMO). Seeing as I was normally without cash due to hunting up on the moon (not a lot of cash drops) I had to go the cheap and easy way. Owlbear pelts in the bazaar (on Xev) normally go for 2pp since they cannot be used for anything expect the No Drop tunics. So I would buy those that I saw and for the rest just trigger the war to have the Owlbears take over the Grimmie camps. There I could chew through and walk away with a few stacks in just a couple of hours. The skill ups I recieved (120'ish wis) was very nice as I would get about 1 in 6. Do not get me wrong but there were times the RNG hated me and I would go through a 20 attempts and only get one skill up. Most of the time I just did 12-20 combines and walk away. Feel I have a better success rate that way when it comes to skill ups. How you get there depends always on you.
