This result, I hope, is based upon PURCHASING the components in the bazaar, because making Acrylia Studded Masks, and Acrylia Reinforced Masks only costs me 2 PP per attempt. And I make thousands of Plat farming the components. I may not get rich based upon the fact that I don't make plat quickly or make 50k, 100k and up PP from farming these items, but I've done alot with my plat to support my guild.

Overall, I'd say I've made approximately 35k PP farming for Acryila Studded and Acrylia Reinforced components over a period of 5 months.

arctic wyvern..

You forgot the coldain tempers for arctic wyvern masks.. should add another 50pp if you buy them or 16pp if you make them(be prepared for hours of clicking if you do). I wish prices were that cheap on my server. Othmir fur and cod are almost never for sale for one... rockhopper hides cost 300+ each and acrylia is 70pp a piece =P

one more thing..

You assume that you are going to be succesfull every time. That is your major flaw.
Lets assume a 50% success rate since i dont know your skill lvl..
10 arcylia cloak run
Cost -6050
proft 3500(5 cloaks at 700)
------------
-2550

10 acrylia mask run
cost -2450
profit 25(5 at 5pp each)
-------------
-2425

10 arctic wyvern masks
cost -1350(10x [85pp + 50pp for tempers])
profit 10(your success rate will be low when u first start)
-------------
-1340pp

Now which is cheaper to make in the long run? and which is less dependant on factors out of your control(i.e. the economy and peoples ability and peoples desire to buy your products)?
Figure out your success rate and youll have a much more accurate idea of your real costs. Now, if you plan on farming all of your suplies, then you need a compltly different chart based on how many components you can farm per hour etc =P

OMG, how could I forget success/fail ratio! And I fixed the Coldain Temper in the Wyvern caps (thanks). So no matter what I'm going to lose pp on whatever I choose to combine and the Wyvern seem to be the cheapest of the leather combines. Robes seem to be the best, but omg the number of clicks is mind boggling!

No matter what I'm losing money skilling up in tailoring, it's just what's the least loss...

And of course, how do I make pp to feed tailoring? I've been fighting with this one since PoP came out! There's no money up there!

As a druid I farm velium hound and mastadon hides in WW to finance my tailoring costs. I buy the supplies I need in the bazaar and pay only what I can make up by selling acrylia reinforced stuff, primarily gloves, arms and boots. It is a slow process but at least I am getting experience in WW unlike when I was in TM farming acrylia.

On the solstice robs you are also forgetting fail rate figured into it, I seem to remember someone saying that post 200 skill the average is around 1 sucess in 40 (most people want a lower sucess rate that low in skill for more chances at skill ups).

So figure an average of 40 combine times 75p (45 for emeralds 30 for swatches)..... So you are looking at an average cost of 3k plus 500 for the gem studded chain for a total of 3500p per robe in fails. Now most most of the time I see the robe prices floating around 900 to 1100p so you are looking at a 2400 to 2600p loss per robe, BUT you got 40 chances at a skill up out of that as well.

So I geuss one would have to consider how many chances at a skill up you got for the amount of money you lose.

Why this never happens to me? My avg is about 1/7 combines. Last night, I did a run of 84 combines, I made 12 robes and a big fat 0 skill up.

Took a break, came back, found some more silk swatches in bank, 6 more combines, made 1 robe and got 1 point.

Then I found some yaw leave tannin so did 5 combines of black pantherskin tunic made 2/5 and 1 skill up. Now, I am at 215 skill with crap load of solstice robe that no one buys since someone is selling them 800pp on my server.

summary - 95 combines, 13 robes, 2 tunics, and 2 skill up.

I miss the days that I get 1 skill per 5 combines.

For the Solstice ingredients, you can frequently do better than 10pp per silk swatch, at least on my server. If you hope to buy ready-made swatches, yes, you'll pay 10pp or more, but if you're patient and check frequently, you'll sometimes find the guy who's dumping 100 spider silks for 2pp each to clear up trader space, etc.

Or, of course, you can always go farm them yourself. And unlike the components for the acrylia armor, virtually anyone who has gotten to 158 in tailoring can reasonably efficiently farm spiders for silk. If you're relatively cash-poor, you want to go this route. If you farm all the silks, you're talking about 45pp per attempt (gross cost) instead of 75.

At the aforementioned 1/40 success rate, for 40 attempts:

45pp * 40 + 500pp (gsc) - 800pp (sale price): 1500pp net cost (or 37.5pp per attempt)

vs.

75pp * 40 + 500 - 800: 2700pp (or 67.5pp per attempt)

At the latter price, I figure robes are similar (maybe a bit worse) in net cost to acrylia studded cloaks. (At least, that's about what I've been running net after sales.) At the former price, it's likely the cheapest available path. (At least until you start succeeding too much, but that's not until 200 at least.)

Of course, this'll require farming several *thousand* spider silks. But if you can do that, you'll get (almost) twice as many attempts for the money. And if you're impatient, dumpster dive in the bazaar to supplement them -- if you find spider silks for 2pp each some day, that's only an extra 12pp per robe, so you're still under 50pp per attempt.

So no matter what, tailoring is a huge money pit. I usually farm all my own stuff which reduced costs, but the farming gains me zero exp. And (ATTENTION VERANT) reduces the mobs and drops available to other players who would gain exp by hunting these mobs. I would love to hunt for drops that would gain me exp but the PoP and CT stuff is just too rare to be of any use.

And to top it all off I'm trying to earn 45kpp to buy that ****able Command of Tunare spell. So much for skill ups, I may have to sell all I have for that spell and that means re-farm etc :-( Are there any good pp earning methods out there?

if I could be so lucky.

I've decided that it's more time efficient for me to xp for a few hours and hope for a spectral that I can sell for 10k than to farm my own silk. And being that I make all my own CE's and do my own imbuing, I'll have plenty to do to process the **** silk.

But cash farming vs. supply farming vs. xp - I've given up trying to combine all three and most times any two together in one zone.

I don't know of any "good" "quick" or any other such word to help you collect the PP you are looking to make. The best that I have ever done farming Acrylia in TM, if you get one of the Grimling Caves and looting everything that drops except for the Grimling Blood, has been 1200 PP in about a 6 hour period. That was with filling all my bags, running to sell in Katta, then running back to the cave. All the while hoping noone took the cave while I was in Katta. This does not include selling the Acrylia dropped nor does it include the Windstones that drop.

I don't know how much you could make soloing IG's in Everfrost since I'm not sure I could solo them so I don't go there, nor do I know how much you would make against HG's in RM with everyone else in the zone hunting HG's as well.

Looks right to me, assuming you're getting the emeralds imbued for free.

Before I started on my venture to 250 tailoring, I did the same analysis that you posted. For my play time (I raid alot), solstice robes are the most efficient route. I have access to an imbue bot and a 250 JC bot, and I can buy all the silks I need in the bazaar. Being able to imbue on a second comp while I raid really cuts down on the tedium of this as well. So far, I've gone from 158 to 200 doing this, and have 3k sacred tunare silk already banked for combines when I can finally divert 3AA to Taanan Mastery. After everything is said and done, I figure it will cost me ~200k net to get to 250 tailoring this way, which is cheaper (though perhaps longer) than some of the other paths possible. You just need patience, and alot of room on a mule. =) It will literally take you months to get to 250 tailoring, unless you have like 1mil plat to burn.

Well I imbue my own emeralds, and carry a few CE components with me everywhere. So when I'm LFG I'm always "ctrl-click, ctrl-click, click, click" "Cast Imbue", rinse, repeat, and if I'm near water, throw in some fishing. I farm almost everything I have except acrylia, and I only buy it when it's cheap (I have spent countless hours in TM Acrylia Caves farming as well, but the drop rates suck).

Amazingly I've been able to get to 63 which is why I'm in this perdicament. I need 45k to buy CoD, and I just can't bring myself to sell any tailoring components (which sell like hotcakes). So I've stopped farming, I've stopped EXPing, and now I'm camping whatever I can find for PP. Which in truth means I'm now camping mobs that drop items I need to replace things I'm selling (Shield of Bane Warding, Gantru Charm, ETC). The Ebay "raise 50,000pp in one night" scams are just that, scams, so I'm not willing to fork out real money for any of that BS. So I am relegated to stripping the drop items from my Druid, to make money, to get CoD, to kill giants in PoS, to get to BoT, to get Spectrals! To EXP, Farm, and earn nice PP.

So I guess I continue to do what I've been doing and I'll GM Tailoring and reach 65 in due course! But I have learned that a good mix of Solstice Robes and Acrylia Cloaks are the way to go. I'm going to complete all my Wyvern Caps and Wood Elf Cultural and never look at them again! I just don't have room for all that junk, and trying to keep track of components is a pain. And I'm selling all my PoP tailoring ingredients too, they're just sitting there taking space, and pp!

158 skill - Solctice or Acrylia Studded

I have been camping hoppers for last couple weeks. I have:

82 superb hides

I need to do acrylia farming now. Hopefully i can find someplace to get XP at same time. I would prefer to gather while I level. How far would this 82 hides get me? Hopefully past 165 :P

****I am level 53, any ideas where to level and gather acrylia at same time??

I have been reading however about the soltice robes. I am curious if I should just start trying soltice robes at 158 since the skill success would be very very low.

Please post pros and cons to starting Soltice robes at 158. Thankyou!
