Drop rate on Velium Hound fur?

I have seen much worse results of late (I killed about 30 of them during one KEI and got 0 hides). I don't know if the RNG was just against me or what, but I killed all animals that moved (got 13 Mastodon hides though).

I farm the claker outa WW on karana

and I see on average 1 in 4-5 kills vhounds
and I get similar from the fat elephants as well
and I get 1 in 2 out of the iceburrowers and 1 in 30 drops a monk/bst chest peice : )

Oh yeah bronto never drop anything for me : (
and Tantor allways drops his horn same with stronghorn's Horn
Icetackle (frozen balls) Drops spells now
Havent gone after the dire wolfs that pop from time to time

Yeap you can assume one in five. There where times where i gat 3 in a row. And then i went 7 or 8 kills with out a fur. But it pretty much evened out over all. If you have a tracker and the ablitiy to kill these fellow quickly (well by quick i mean i gat mine in about 3 days of hunting) you should have no problem at all.

One in five sounds about right drop rate. Sometime you get multiple in a row and something you have to kill a dozen to get one. But usually one in five drops fur.

Don't forget the rogue Dire wolf, that one drops fur also

Tantor does not drop his tusk all the time - about 1 in 10 for me. About 50/50 on having a mastodon fur.

Stronghorn also seems to be running at SoE speed recently.

Brontotherium do drop a skin for some quest occasionally but its a very low demand iteml.

I also believe that they nerfed the drops recently on hound fur. normally it was around 1 in 3 to 5 for me but last month I am about 5 from 50-60. Still have had 2 from 2 kills and runs of 0 from 20. I have also seen a lot less for sale in bazaar.

What level would it be safe for a ranger or druid to hunt the hounds in WW?

As a shaman is just is not worth hunting them, as they are perma camped by druids and rangers, so I was playing with the idea of just powerleveling my ranger up in level to hunt them for me.

What level is a good level to hunt them?

Depending on how good of a druid you are, I'd start at 55. Fear kitting is the way to go, as root dosen't seem to last very long on these. For rangers...ask someone else

Oh, and I've seen shamman out in WW using sense animals and it seemed to work well enough for them. Then again, I'm polite enough to share.
