I just started EQ again after about a 3 year break, so I have quite a lot of catching up to do. As a ranger, I'm going to concentrate on smithing, tailoring and fletching, and I noticed a lot of the newbie trade skill item drops are used in various template formulas (ie Coarse Silk Sleeve Template), but haven't found anything anywhere saying what these templates are for. Are they simply trade skill training fodder, or is there a point to them?

Most are training fodder, but can be sold to merchants for slightly less than the vendor bought ingredients. Some of them can be used to make cultural armor & symbols. There's a handy chart here: http://ca.geocities.com/daeguardeq/NewCultural.html
