  • Appropriate level for skill question

Currently I'm a level 31 halfling druid, and I just picked up the tailoring habit. My current skill level is 122, and I know I have lots and lots of Wu's ahead of me, but once I get near the 158 skill level, what would be the appropriate level for my character to farm/afford to continue on my skill level? Is 31 too young to worry about tailoring, or should I wait a while?

One other quick question, is it possible to skill up on failures on cultural armor?

    Thanks!

There are those who argue that skillups are more common on successes, but ... *shrug*

As to when you can afford to get higher, I hate to sound like this, but it's different for different people. Some are just plain better at collecting money.

At 31 frontier mountains is great hunting grounds. You can start killing brutes for xp and hq brute hides that will take your skill past 200.

Yeah it's possible to skill up on failures. It seems that I got a lot more skill increases on making/failing vale reinforced masks than any other post-wu's combine but that's a religious debate.

Don't give in and waste HQ brute hides until wu's trivs. You'll look back fondly on the wu days and wish you'd saved those hides.

Firiona Vie is another option for lvl 31. The spiders near the Tunnel are good until lvl 36 or so. They don't drop as many silks as farming in EK, but you can still get experience from them.

I started tailoring at lvl 1. I just made GM at lvl 54 (no rich sugar daddy to help). My "Tailoring Progression" for hunting for exp was (note: Druid for porting helped this along):

1-16 Misty Thicket and other newbie areas
16-24 East Karana, focusing on the Crag Spiders
24-33 Brutes outside Dalnir (stayed too long, but wanted the hides) and EW
33-39 Wakening Lands (Tigeraptors), also EW and GD for Thurgadin Faction
39-50 Cobalt Scar (Wyverns, Drakes) and DSP (Rockhoppers)
51-54 DSP, Mons Letalis for Rockhoppers, Cobalt Scar for Drakes, and Western Wastes for mammals.

I never did hunt Othmir (they are too cute and sell nice things), but I did find enough furs in the Bazaar for about 30 combines.

I would bind where I could do some soloing and port to other places when grouped with friends. For a long time, I was bound in TM near the Grimling Caves and would pick up the laborer and runner early in the morning (I still have about 6 or 7 patterns on various alts, and all my characters have Rallic packs -- even let the runner pouch rot a couple of times). I'm now bound in Western Wastes and still have a couple stacks of Velium Hound Fur.

You are also at the right level where you can start getting XP from Acrylia components.
