This item drops off of Shei Vinitras in Akheva Ruins.

A friend mentioned this to me a few weeks ago, (old school player like myself) and I went there to farm it. Since not many folks go there anymore, the named was up and was easily soloable at level 80.

How the heck do yo solo a DT'ing mob?

Sorry for the confusion, but I should have clarified and been more specific. In a sense I soloed this, but boxed a trio, make up of a 75 warrior, 79 shaman and a 80 druid. On that note, judging by what I've seen from that fight, I could have soloed it without a problem. The DT that was cast on the tank was resisted and the ae dd was slightly annoying, but other than that I believe this can be soloed by a competent player.

I would wager to say if you resisted it, then this latest patch to fix Shei's spawn timer also broke his DT that hits every 2 mins. I've duo'd SV perhaps 30 times over the past few months and there was not a single instance where the DT was flat out resisted.

Perhaps he meant survived? 20K damage is survivable now, and I'm pretty sure Shei's melee wouldn't be enough to kill a tank before he could get a heal. Heck, I raid buff to almost 23K myself, and I'm only DK/low AG geared (with new cultural).

That's absolutely certain. The 20k deathtouch hits for much less with max'd spell shielding. 13k I believe is the low-point possibility. However, if it was outright resisted, then there's a problem. Still, a solo warrior isn't going to dole out 600k in damage within 4 minutes before taking a pair of those Deathtouches. Warrior solo job? Not likely. A knight, probably so.

SV's four buddies need to be offtanked the entire time or they just respawn immediately. Solo all five at once? Nah. Train the 4 away and ditch agro. They're corpse campers and don't roam back (which negates the intent of the event anyway).

So pretty much hard to solo then? A SK with HT and life taps might be able to handle 5 total mobs but other classes won't survive long enough.

I've never seen those drop before. Since my main has already maxed the trophy, maybe it's good for my druid!

It was the 15% hammer for smithing from XTC that I was always after. Either wouldn't drop it or someone else beat me to the mob. I think everyone else I was camping it with eventually got the hammer, since it always seemed to drop when I was not there.

Never could find much interest in getting people to go to Akheva, although I kinda hate that zone too due to all the traps.

Eventually capped all the trophies anyway (all 11 trophies including my alts), so doesn't matter much to my main now anyway. The tailoring trophy was the hardest for me to cap, but sold enough mastodon fur cloaks along the way to cover the costs at least.
