  • Can the new templates needed for cultural be used to skill up?

I guess my question is, can you use the templates to skill up? Like the ones that need exquiset and flawless silk and the flawless animal pelts? The templates that are used to make the cultural armor, not cultural armor itself.

I have ALOT of the silks and Animal pelts, in the thousands accross all my toons. But, I dont have tailoring over 50 in any. Are the templates a skill restricted combine? If not, I can see this as an easy skill up path for me, since I saved them since they started dropping.

And on my server, I just hit 300 human smith, I would love to make 300 tailoring too as there are no human smiths/tailors on my server.

And quick question, what are the tradeskill trophies? So they give good mods? What slot? I got the 15% bs gloves from VT, so just wondering if they will be better than that?

The purpose of the templates is to provide a smooth skill up path all the way to 300 (and beyond.)

You can experiment to learn any template recipe you choose. Also, if you go to the template recipe merchant (in PoK, AS, or CR) you can purchase the books that can be scribed to give you all the recipes for that tier. More become available on the vendor as your skill increases.

Flawless templates are the 380s range and the Exquisite Templates are all over 400. These are not really good choices to skill up on as you have limited success rates on them compared to Excellent and Superb which are both over 300.

Yes the templates can be used to skill up on. The ones that also make the armor have the added benefit of being used in additional combines.

The templates are skill restricted, but come in tiers, so as you skill up (using the lower level ones) you reach the next higher tiers. Find the new merchants and see what ones you can buy to get started. Yes, a nice skill up path for you or anyone else.

Go for it. Go for 300 in all 7 tradeskills if that pleases you as well.

Tradeskill trophies start in West Freeport. There is a halfling outside the city and north of the main gate, talk to her to get started. They are evolving items the modifier depends on the level of the trophy, from +1% at 1/7 to +15% at 7/7. The slot is PRI/SEC/RANGE/AMMO. While the modifier (and evolving etc...) works in the ammo slot, none of your other stats will show up when it is equiped in the ammo slot. "Better" is subjective, but the 7/7 trophy for smithing would be the same modifier, so you might want to stick to what you have. There is a different trophy for each tradeskill. The trophies also have other benefits. Besides having stats, they als have the ability to summon (NO TRADE) bags. The size and the weight reduction of the bag improves each time the trophy evolves to a higher level. Until by level 6 (and 7) they summon 10 slots, hold giant sized 100% weight reduction bags. Which can be very convenient. Also you can turn in one of these summoned bags for a permanent version (to the gnome in the tradeskill area in the bazaar).
