Exalted Impressions

I am working on this task and will be working on Sublime Impressions too but have a question.
Two of us working on this are wood elves..he is getting impressions and I am not. Why would this be happening since we are grouped?

It is just the RNG at work.

I've been grouped with folks while doing the quest, and we have both gotten impressions, not always on the same kill though.

Be sure you have the impressions book someone in your inventory or a bag on your person and not in the bank.

Otherwise it is luck.

It is rolled randomly PER PERSON not per group.

is there a prerequiste to this task?( do tasks have to be done before this one?)

There is no pre-requisites to the new symbol book quests.

As stated, the RNG is just being fickle.

If you can get the task you can compete the task as long as you have the book on you.
