  • Best route to raise skill above 100?

Hiya, the highest I have raised tailoring is 104.

Could one of you experts tell me how to raise skill to max..the best route? Least expensive would help as I do not have alot of pp

With all the new tradeskill stuff I am a bit confused..lol.

I want to raise this skill on my Gnome Magician to make cultural armor someday.

    Thanks for the help!

Take a look at the Tradeskill Guide thread in the Guides forum, it has a fairly good list of the major skillup stuff. Also, just run through the Quick Trivial lists on the site. Sometimes certain recipes may be really simple for you to farm parts for, because of where you group/raid/farm, whereas others never see those drops. The new template system with cultural revamp is fairly nice, so you might want to look at that. There are several guides in the guide section for that, plus tier overviews/charts/etc.

Offhand, I believe I did Tailored Quivers to 115. Took a bag full of quiver patterns to East Karana and murdered cats till I hit 115. From there, I did Wu's silks, and that will take you to 150ish. Wu's is fairly cheap, even cheaper if you have access to an enchanter to make the vials.

If you have an alt thats got some JC skill you might look at makeing iron conduites from sunshard dusts. You should get skill from makeing armor from those. However this is slightly more expensive than making quivers.

          A new language

Hi! I am a long ago returning player, started over from scratch. I have been leveling up my new druid and I readched 74 so far! I really want to do some tailoring.

My hubby and I have some alts various races and we'd like to gear them ourselves without this crazy 500,000p per items stuff just to have nice gear without being a High end raider again.

I have stayed away from making items myself on my main because I just dis not understand what you guys are talking about. Just when I thought I was getting to understand what they were something else happened. (the nerf of DON's and then new expansion) so I waited so more time.

You guys are talking a foreign language! Tiers, trophy's, templates, books... I am totally confused. Am I the only one? I thought I was a smart person till I started reading. And hunny I have been reading and reading trying to make sense of things.

I would like to do cultural do I start with DON and work my way up?
What is a throphy? What does it do?
When you talk of tiers are you referring to which level they get to wear items?
When you now talk of Templates what are you referring to? Is that DON, TBS, SS, SOF? Oh am I ever confused.......
Is there a "Stepping into Tradeskilling: A Guide for Dummies and soon to be totally insane" book I can get somewhere? I looked at the 5.0 guide is there an easy way to read it? Am I looking at it wrong?

I promise I went to college I am not a lazy person I guess I am just TS challenged?

          Help!

The cultural armor was released with DoN expansion. It has since undergone a revamp and had additional armor added for the higher levels. There is no expansion it goes with anymore. To begin, you need to go to your home town and find one of the tradeskill quest NPCs. This person will offer you the tasks you need to complete in order to craft the armor. The armor is race dependent (only can make armor for your race). The patterns/mold for the armor come from a book (reward for a task) that is very basic and is 4 low level items you turn in. The armor has a slot 7, 11, and 12 augment slots. The slot 7 is the generic group armor augment slot. The slot 11 is the cultural symbol slot. The 12 is a raid augment slot and also some non-raid augments can fit in it.

The slot 11 augments are symbols. To create these you need the pattern/mold from the appropriate book (quest reward) from the tradeskill quest that require killing mobs and obtaining "impressions" from the mobs. Each level of symbols have their own quest. They do not have to be done in order. They are level restricted, you cannot request the task until you are 5 levels from the required level of the symbol they create.

The revamp to the armor made it a 2 step process to create armor. The template and the armor.

Templates were created in tiers. There are 13 tiers of templates. The trivials go up smoothly all the way from 0 to 300+. These are the skill up path that Ngreth created for smithing and tailoring. The drops are based on the mob's level and are "global" drops in that any mob of the correctly marked "race" can drop them. The higher level drops are rarer than the lower level ones. Tailoring uses silk or animal pelts. Smithing uses ore. Templates were created for all slots of armor on the character (this is more slots than cultural armor can fit in). Silk requires twice the drops as animal pelts to maintain the old "swatch from 2 silks" balance in the quantity of items needed. As such, the silk drop rates have been adjusted to balance this.

The armor has 5 (soon to be 6) levels. Simple, Ornate, Intricate, Elaborate, Elegant. These use specific tiers of templates in the combines as well as a rarer drop; Spinneret fluid for silk, Marrow for animal pelts, Loams for ore; in addition to some vendor items. These combines use the pattern for your race's armor and are restricted to the cultural sewing kit/forge.

The symbols have 6 levels, Blessed, (missing one name here), Sacred, Eminent, Exalted, Sublime, and are crafted from the template drop and the armor drop from the same level. Superb silk is used to make Superb Silk Templates and use Superb Spinneret Fluid to make Elaborate Silk armor. To make the Eminent symbol that corresponds to it would use another Superb Spinneret Fluid and the Superb silk and a pattern from the Eminent Symbol Quest pattern book.

Recipe books were added to vendors in PoK, AS, and CR. These common zones have 5 vendors (smithing, tailoring, tinkering, template, and new discoveries). The template vendor sells books that explain the process and recipe for making the templates. Also, the books can be scribed (click the scribe button when you open to read them) and this will automatically save all of the recipes for that book's tier into the tradeskill UI so you can easily access them. There are 13 smithing template books. There are 13 tailoring template books on that vendor one for each tier. The smithing, tailoring, and tinkering vendors will offer you armor AND symbol recipe books that work the same way. The new discoveries vendor has the (new with SoF) level 80 armor and level 75 and 80 symbol recipe books. Only the items you can use appear on these vendors and they are skill restricted. As you gain more skill, you can see the higher tiers/levels.

This link is an excellent chart created that lists the tiers of templates and what armor and symbols correspond to them and what drops and vendor items go with each level as well as general trivial information. It can be found in the guides section of the forums. http://www.kyros.info/Tradeskills/cultural.htm

Trophies were released with PoR expansion. It is an evolving item. Based on your current skill, the quest NPC located in the field outside the city walls in West Freeport offers you a task to craft items to test your skill. You turn the crafted items into the judge and when you finish you receive the trophy. The trophy is 1 for each tradeskill and has a modifier on it. The trophy gains experience for completing successful non-trivial combines while it is equipped and if evolved all the way (to level 7) is a 15% modifier.

The complete tradeskill guide is a list by skill of recommended recipes to use that are cheap/easy to obtain materials for to skill up to 300. It is a suggestion and generally agreed upon as the most common sequence of items to make to just work on skilling up. There may be alternatives that work better for you, but basically, you pick the item you want to make, create it until it becomes trivial then move on to the next item on the list. The items on that list link to the recipes for those items on the site.
