My trophy evolved to level 4/7 when I hit 197 in tailoring. It then stopped evolving. I assumed this might be since I had not passed 200. Finally the random number generator liked me again and I passed 200 and skilled up to 204 on about 40 combines. However my trophys still shows 4/7 and 0%. Shouldnt it have started to evolve again?

What were you making to get past 200, and after that?

Pristine, Excellent and Superb cultural templates. so from Blue to Red trivials. Skills went up fine but no changes on the trophy. If I figured it right 200-250 should be the right skill range to evolve level 4 and 250-300 to evolve level 5 then at 300 you hit level 6 and can evolve to level 7.

Correct, however, there's a catch. The trophy will only gain exp for combines that are 100 points or less over your skill. So if your skill is 204, you will only gain exp for combines trivial 304 or less. The excellent and superb combines are over that limit, so they won't count for your trophy. Only the pristines will count for exp.

I am haveing a similar problem. My trophy got to 6/7 (12%) and stopped evolving. I have a 295 skill and am doing Superb and Excellent silks and pelts for skillups. I Have done about 200 combines still showing 0%. I petitioned and some typical cryptic GM message.

Aha, you have the reverse issue. =) Your trophy managed to outlevel you because of the change in exp, I'm guessing. Normally, your trophy would stop at 6/7 and 0% until your skill got to 300, when it would resume getting exp. But due to some changes in how level 6 exp is calculated, you got a freebie 12% exp. Your trophy will start gaining exp again when you hit 300 skill.

I think he was saying he has a level 6 trophy (12% mod). That is at 0%.

If that is the case, then the rest of KyrosKrane's repsonse is accurate.

Your trophy is Master level, but you are not, yet. The trophy leveled up ahead of you and is waiting for you to catch up. You can only start working towards level 7 after you reach 300 skill.

This is especially likely if he did a lot of silk combines while they were bugged for skill-ups - they would have counted for levelling the trophy even while they gave next to no chance for skilling up.

Odd question, but I am at 30% in my Level 6 trophy. Is there any benefit in doing GM Cultural vs. Templates to skill up the trophy or does the 10% bonus for GM Chests only apply to actual skill ups?

The skillup bonus for cultural combines only applies to, well, skillups. Trophy exp is separate.

There is little innate benefit to making final armor combines v. templates at the elaborate level (assuming this is what you mean since thats where the 10% skillup bonus is) since the lowest template difficulty is 348 and all the other recipes get the 350 xp cap. At the sacred level, however, only the final combines are high enough to evolve the trophy.

Additionally, the more often you click combine, the more your trophy evolves so do both if you farm the resources. If you're buying them in the bazaar, stick to the cheaper template combines.
