  • Possible Bug with Containers

I was in PoK last night making the new cultural templates. When I first opened the loom, the recipes displayed showed the colors on the trivials based on my base stats. I then equipped my trophy and the colors did not adjust. The number at the top of the tradeskill UI changed to my modified skill, but the recipes did not adjust. When I closed the loom, equipped my trophy and THEN opened the loom, I got the color set for my adjusted skill, even when I removed my trophy.

Submitted in game bug, but wanted to come here to see if anyone else had experienced a similar issue. Later, because I had my trophy equipped when I opened my cultural sewing kit to make Elaborate armor by hand, it "learned" the recipe for the bracer when my base skill was only 272. Modified skill is 293 so I think it was looking at that number when it checked to see if I was high enough to "learn" the recipe.

This isn't new; as the changing modified skill number shows, it IS dealing correctly with the chance to succeed etc. on the combines, it just doesn't re-colour everything.

The second part, learning new recipes in Experiement mode, doesn't seem to have anything to do with your skill level, modified or otherwise -- I was able to learn the cobalt chain bracer pattern when even my modified skill was only about 220.

In the past, the containers have always changed the color on the trivials when my modified skill was adjusted by equiping/removing my trophy.

Also, the recipe I learned was for Elaborate Brambleborn Wristguards. Wood elven armor combine that I thought could only be learned by scribing the book which is not available until 275. I am still just shy of 275 base skill, but my thinking was if it looked at my modified skill, I am over 275 and learned the armor recipe where as if I didn't use my trophy, it would not have learned the recipe.

I can't say I've ever noticed the colour changing thing before... my memory may be faulty, however

As for the second part, the skill restriction is only on the Vendors, and I think it was just intended that the new recipes would only be learnable via the books, not via experimentation, and that part was missed. Hence that part is taking no notice of your skill, modified or otherwise, just as prior to the recent revamps.

I've noticed the color thing before. It's especially visible with a high-percent modifier, since that increases your skill so dramatically, but you can easily see the effect by searching for recipes just a couple of points over your skill, then equipping and removing your modifier. The recipes will change from light blue (without modifier) to green (with modifier) and back.

When working with GM (sorry, elaborate) armors, the recipes usually "con" yellow or red to me. When I equip my trophy, they switch to conning dark blue.

Before this patch last Tuesday, I made Elaborate armor in experimentation mode. It did not learn the recipes. My container recognized the change in my skill (by equipping the trophy) and the colors changed according to whatever my modified skill was.

After the patch, I made Elaborate armor in experimentation mode and it did learn the recipe. My container recognized the change in my skill (by equiping the trophy) but the colors did not change accordingly.

That is all I am saying. It is not a negative effect, it makes my life easier that I can now learn the Elaborate recipes (used to require 275 skill to purchase book and was only way to learn recipes) and I have to pay more attention to the trivials of the combines I am doing.

When I have my trophy equipped, I can still gain skill ups for some green "trivial" combines because they are still above my base skill.

I was just posting my experience and trying to see if any others had a similar occurence. I need to go back tonight and check to see if it happens again.
