  • Iskar cultural tailoring walkthrough (The beginning)

Here are the first two symbol quests for Iskars. I will say that if you are an iskar I feel for ya, my gnome necro had a much easier time doing his symbols than the iskar has so far.

The book quest that allows you to actually make armor and not templates has not changed. Look up that quest under DoN on this site.

Impressions for your books, how it works: It is completely random. If you have a kill 20 get five impressions your gonna end up killing 25->30. Why? I have no idea, just the way it is. Maybe I just have had bad luck on the impressions on the get 5 quests. Make sure you have the book in your inventory as well. You will have to rekill mobs if you forget your book!!!!

    First Symbol:

Kill 10 Ton Warriors (Doing this from memory). Get 2 impressions in your book.

Head to Upper Guk and kill Ton Warriors. I found them all over the place. Espically around the Froglok Priest (See Eq atlas). If you start at the priest and clear back to the lguk zone in should have this in no time.

Now for the suck part 20 Adult Elephants in south karana. (In Coming rant) What does this have to do with the iskar group at all? What did upper guk have to do with them, the froglocks are a small class. I think in redoing the cultural drops they could have put a little thought into the quests. I am done now.

Get a tracker and after killing what is up to begin with pull everything roaming until more spawn. This is going to be a time sink. But it isnt as bad as the revered one.

    Revered Symbol Book:

Starts with you killing ten Sarnak Champions in Buring Woods. This one was really easy when you zone in from skyfire run towards the entrance to Chardok. I found quite a few along the way and when you get to chardok's entrance they are all over the place. Killing the 10 got the two impressions you need.

Now for the time sink, 20 soulsipper from emerald jungle. This took me 3.5 hours with a tracker. (Another rant) for sippers being such a problem you would think there would be quite a few. I would have thought the 100 tigers i killed or gorillas that are aggressive as all heck would pose a bigger problem for the iskar's than the 3 sippers that are up at any given one time.

Anyway it took me 28 to get the impression part done (you need five). I may have had bad luck because i didn't get one in my first ten kills. It takes a while, and if none are up pull gorillas tigers anything roaming around. Looked like a 15 minute wait time.

The next symbol quest i got last night. It involves killing warriors in Dragon Nec (20 and 5 impressions), and killing in seru (10 mobs).

How the books work in the PoK .

It is not explained well so I will go over it for tailors. Tailors have a book vendor in the Plain of Knowledge (Use Find). The people for all tradeskills are just outside the bank. Check with the vendor and buy the books the are willing to sell to you. As you advance in skill the game automatically unlocks more books for you to buy. Check back with the vendor through out the process.

For cultural armor i went to the armor book vendor in the pok (by the tailoring one ) and bought everything hey offered and scribed it. Not sure if this has anything to do with cultural stuff. Somewhere around 120-140 Ornate Cultural opened up for me. When you get to this point the tailoring book vendor will sell you the ornate book. That will allow you to make the 35->40 cultural armor.

Now hopefully your a 200 brewer and have some skillz in blacksmithing. I was able to forge the items i needed with an iskar monk. Get your items for the Cab. Needle (Search this site on needle to find your races needle). I found someone to do the combine for me, since you can do it in any forge.

I then went and made lanterns till I capped for blacksmithing, then bought 20 of the metal blocks to make my Iskar Sewing kit and hit the forge First combine worked! (I know I am lucky). Just following the recipe listed on this site (Search under sewing kits to find your races).

Now to make the cultural armor you need the patterns you got from the book that was not a task. Take your races needle, sewing kit, a pattern, then rough leather or crude silk template, appropriate race swatch (You buy this from tailor merchants in your home town) and moist marrow.

That is the beginning up to you to go from here, but i think you can get the basics of what you should be doing. I did confirm you cant make combines unless you have scribed them into your list.

Last note: I got to 164 over three days by doing a little prep work on my iskar monk (His int is only 110). Buy a ton of of spider silk to fly through the lower levels. It did help that my necro gnome was 200 in brewing and i have a 51 enchanter that could help with making wu's. If you can find an enchanter to make you the mana vials for wu's do wu's as much as you can and wear items to bump your cha over 100. It will save you a ton of money in the end. I think i spent 4 k or so getting here (on my necro before this i spent a lot more than that). If you want alternatives at the 160 range use the old methods Rockhopper hides, Artic Wyverns, stuff like that. (Main point on our server people are getting sucked into this as the way to skill up, those that have done this before know silk is the cheap way to do it)

You can get to 66 by combineing mandrake roots and then add steel boneings to 76 makeing picnic baskets. This isn't the cheepest method however. The Iron conduites made from sunshard dusts are good to 150ish iirc.:-)

      Important note: iKSar not iSKar

      - Ancaglon, Master Smith and Tailor of Cabilis.

(Also, the Sacred and Eminent quests are the same for all races. For the Chetari warriors, I kept going back and forth between the room at the east end of the zone, and the area where the lava tunnel from that room emerges, till I got my 20).

I thought Ngreth said that there would be 3-4 quests at each tier for the symbols? Or am I misremembering?

I think that was based on the size of the races.

Small races would have the same tasks... Large races together. I do not have access to enough characters to confirm.

Well, for the Sacred quest, I did it on an Iksar, a Gnome, a Troll and a Wood Elf at the same time - it was the same.

The lower level quests are the size-dependent ones, I believe.
