  • Skill up bonus

    Hey guys,

Anyone know if the tailored templates have the same 5% and 10% skillup bonus as the master/grandmaster combines do, or if the bonus is still just for the final armor combine?
    Thanks in advance

I believe Ngreth has aid that the skillup bonus is only for the final armour combine.

Not sure where to link to, though, but if you do a search it might show up.

      Per N'greth in this thread

Cultural ITSELF still has the bonus. Templates do not. Equate the templates to swatches. Swatches never had skillup bonuses either.

Do the symbols have any bonus? If so, which and how much?

Does anything else, anywhere, besides Intricate (5%) and Elaborate (10%) armor have any skillup bonuses?

Is it only the Breastplate/Tunic/Robe combine that has it?

Not that I recommend it, but on the offhand chance, does the Elegant?

I'm basically looking for a summary, both for myself, and that we could add to the FAQ.

Intricate armor and Sacred symbols have 5%...all slots

Elaborate armor and Eminent symbols have 10%... all slots.

I believe it was mentioned that the Elegant, Exalted, and Sublime have 10%, but you have to already be 300 skill in order to do any of those combines so until the success cap is raised, it is moot.

yes symbols (higher end ones) also have the bonus.

And no I will not confirm any actual numbers, just that they have a bonus.

Better stats overall on those so still worth doing it for yourself or to sell in bazaar for money.

There's very few elegant gears and sublime symbols. I can understand sublime with the hard quest but elegant is being held back by stoopidly rare drops.

Unless the bonuses changed with the revamping of tradeskills, Maddoc (and, I think, you ) has already confirmed that Master's/Intricate armors and Sacred augs have a 5% bonus, and Grandmaster's/Elaborate and Eminent augs have a 10% bonus.

I'm kinda surprised to hear that the bonus is that low (if those numbers are accurate). I went from 250 to 300 doing mostly sacred (~70&#37 and eminent augs (~20%), along with a bit of armor and a few templates. I've done a few combines since then, and my trophy is still only at 66%. The pattern is even more pronounced on my beastlord, currently sitting at 294 skill with a much lower % on trophy after doing sacred augs almost exclusively.

If it weren't for cheap and plentiful fine silk and fluid, I'd still be debating whether I'd bother taking one toon to 300, let alone two.

For the sake of comparison, a character at smithing skill 270 plus a 5% skill mod, with a prime stat (INT/WIS/STR) of 300, doing a combine trivial 306, will have an overall chance of a skillup of 4.84% per combine. A 5% bonus more than doubles that to 9.84%, and a 10% bonus would triple it to 14.84%.

Same character, at skill 299, doing the same combine, would have a base chance of 2.55%. A 5% skillup bonus triples the chance to skill up, to 7.55%. A 10% bonus would quintuple the original chance, taking it to 12.55%.

These bonuses are HUGE, especially for the last few skill points.

I think something is broken then.

Ever since the new expansion went live, skill ups for me have been few and far between. I just did 57 final combines on intricate cultural tailoring and only got one skill up from 286 to 287. Not to mention the one skill up I got on subcombines using up 286 fine silk, 134 fine leather, 34 excellent silk, and 18 excellent leather. The toon I was using has 255 wisdom and a 8 percent trophy, and only failed one combine.

Some might say this is just bad luck, but I've been playing this game for seven years, and these numbers are downright dismal. Prior to this expansion, I would normally get a skill up every 15 to 20 combines in tailoring, and I went from 297 to 300 on cultural smithing in 8 final combines, with the last two skillups being consecutive.

I just did a run of 48 templates and then 45 armor pieces and only got 2 skill ups (270 and 271 for smithing). Although it is not fun to hear, sometimes it is just bad luck.

I usually start getting really frustrated when I see stacks of supplies disappearing and each combine without a skill-up making me cringe a little bit more, but for some reason I keep clicking. =)

Sounds close to normal. I've had to go through a lot to get the last smithing skillup, and those silver ingot for TBS armor are expensive.

The skillup bonus is alive and working from my skillup attempts.

                              skillups

Like I think Ngreth said in another post, do your tradeskills in PoK or someplace and not in instance (guild hall).

I seem to get a good skillup rate in guild lobby. It is just the slight chance that you could get bugged and not get any skillups in the instance.
