The templates should show in any version of forge/sewing kit etc, but the amour will only show in the cultural version of the tradeskill container(well for smithing this worked anyway)

"all the books" simply means those that the person has the skill to see. If it's a recipe with a significantly higher trivial, they just won't see the book for it, whereas (due to a perhaps fortuitous bug) you CAN learn such recipes in Experiment mode.

I thought the "bug" was you could make the higher recipes in experiment mode if you just know the components to combine but you still dont *learn* it that way.

I havent played much with the recipes yet to be sure and I have max skill in every tradeskill so its not an issue for me.

"Learn" works - that's why I've been skilling up on Tungsten (and later, Cobalt) bracers and gloves from about 240 skill upwards. (I've just been doing chain bracers with Tungsten, since the patterns stack to 100, but I've tried to vary the Cobalt stuff since I plan to turn that into real armour for sale or tribute when I have the loam -- you may think I'm wasting Cobalt, but given where people go for XP, it's fairly common at the moment, compared to Rhenium and Tungsten).

There are vendors for the template recipe books in PoK, Abysmal sea, and possibly other places. In PoK, they're outside the library, near the Priest of Discord. In Abysmal, they're outside the rooms for the smithing and tailoring vendors.

There is a smithing merchant, a tailoring merchant, and a tinkering merchant on one side of the room. They sell the books for armor and symbols and charms.

There is a 4th vendor in the NW corner of the room that sells the template books. Sells 11 for smithing templates and 11 for tailoring templates and they are also scribed and give you the template recipes.

Think they looked more like scrolls than books on the image.

The top end books may not be visible if you do not meet the required skill for the vendor to display them.

Try using the deafult UI. I've heard of people having trouble seeing the scribe button because of their UI

Make sure the vendor has "a xxx historian" as their name, substituting xxx as appropriate. If they have anything else, it's the wrong vendor.

The suggestion about checking your UI is also a great one.
