There was supposed to be a comma there it said farming for pp/bazaaring I don't mind. It's the fact I have no patience.

I have 300-400k I can throw into tailoring but I don't want to wait to find items.

I just maxed jsing. I'm maxing every other tradeskill too by just buying components and skilling up. I can't stand farming for crap drops though.

At 170 you shouldn't be having that much trouble finding items to make. Unfortunately this is why tailoring is one of the hardest tradeskills to get to 300. It takes time not just farming pp to buy supplies in the bazaar but also time farming. Perhaps you can make a friend with someone who has the time and is willing to farm the drops for you, but there is no instant skill up path.

I'd do intricate crystalweave cultural armor, there's a minimum of subcombines and it will take you to 300, and shissar scales are pretty plentiful, easily farmed.
At least until it's nerfed in a month or so. But if you do it in smaller batches instead of waiting until you have hundreds it should be fairly safe.

At 170 skill I'd look for LoY dyes like Berry or Steam dye and make platinum ribbons.

As mentioned above there are 2 ways to 300 in tailoring and most people end up doing a little of both. First there is camping 2nd there is buying. There is no "easy" way to 300 tailoring. Just less crappy =P

only real tip to make it less of a pain sorta is to skip the dye line
and do spider silk filter to 190 then do as much entrails as you can. But personally i found that just doing rag tag combiens worked. Entrails when they had that.

the odd fleeting quiver (222) a crap load of artic wyvern ( 250 ies) I did power belts and wyvern to 252 then started othmir primaraly but i keep scurging bazz for cheap components ( cheapish ) and grab as I can.

If you have a BIG bank you can just start saying in your merket/ bazz / general channel that you are paying for said othmir hides ( usually 300 pp or more aeach)
Note: Due to a hand injury caused by a friend throwing a broken scissor into my hand my typing = crap. So dotn be so critical.

Well I actually hit 252 on my Dark Elf Tailor recently. Ended up buying a ton of spider silks/silk swatches and going with ceremonial. Wasn't to bad not the to 300 is where it gets bad I support I could buy the othmir fur but were talking about 1million pp to get enough of them to go to 300. Tailoring as a whole kind of sucks. Smithing is a close second so I'm knocking that out to 300 next just going to do sickles all the way up from my current 215.

Sunshard Dust, Sundhard Pebbles, Sunshard Ore. Only 2 Subcombines that also give you skillups in needed tradeskills, and a simple recipe on the final combine that will take you to 300. The created items all sell in the bazaar, they also all sell back to a vendor for a very decent greed cut return.

IMO until they nerf this path, there is no other path in the game better for Smithing, Tailoring, Pottery and Fletching (maybe Fletching depending on your class).

Almost eveything in the game drops at least one of those 3 Sunshards across every continent and across every expansion. In just doing regular EXP and tasks, I am able to get 10-15 pebbles and 6-8 ores every single night of moderate playing. Then every Sunday Morning I do a skillup run with the 40-50 items I found that week usually get 2-3 skillups or more each time. ALOT better then killing 10,000 othmir or fishing for 30 hours for 100 skill attempts.

Hmm never heard of those I'll have to look into it when I get home buy as many sunshards as I can and start working on them.

actually I'm a little confused. Did a search on the items your talking about didn't seem to have anything to do with tailoring/smithing. What am I missing here?

Hit the Find Recipes that Use This Item link a couple of times; the Sunshard stuff goes through a couple of subcombines before you get to the actual smithed/tailored step.

my guide form 250 to 300,with as few subcombines as possible would look something like this:

to 262: murkglider / feran bracers.
                      268: murk/feran sleeves
                      275: murk/feran helm
                      282; murk/feran tunic or leggings.

                      to 295: othmir !!!
                      300: velium mastodon,velium hound,ice burrower.

only other things that is needed from 282 is vials of XX mana.
                      no brewed tempers,no smithing,no JC,etc..

this was it is possible to get to 300 and actually make pp at the same time. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt!
