  • About to start tailoring, this plan look good?

I am a dark elf shadow knight, have about 200-300k pp to spend on tailoring.
Currently at 104 skill, planning to do a combination of things.

158 - Find Price vial of viscous, probably do wu

    170 Sunshard dust (have 1000+)
210 expert symbols with Lambert (look for corathus entrails as alternative)
    212 Strand of ether
    255 sunshard Pebbles
262 tailoring charm (look for wasp silk)

    295 Othmir 295
    300 Hogresh
    300 Sunshard ore ( have 500+)
Keeping an eye out for nighmare drachnid

Have I missed out any good skill up combinations?

VERY easy and good for skilling up to 190, is Spider silk filter

4 item combine. 2 spider silks, 1 mesa recluse spinnerette, 1 CE.
I did tailoring on 2 toons at the same time, and never touched Wu's.

I only would caution you on banking on the Lambent stones for expert armor.

They are not going to be used much longer for that combine. IF you get them done soon you should be ok. Not sure what your time frame is for your goal.

As a Dark Elf, your Expert Cultural (well, Ornate now) tailoring uses Drachnid silk swatches too, and will take you to 212 using 1 swatch per combine (sleeves triv at 212) - this is a little easier than doing the symbols all the way up. From 212 to 222, it's probably easier to switch to doing Chest and Legging Symbols.

(Of course, this is also about to become obsolete along with the lambent stones for the symbols....)

Do the armour peices have the same bonus to skill up chance as the symbols ?

I couldn't see anywhere that listed items with bonus chances

No, only master (5&#37 and GM (10%) have the skillup bonus. I forget what their new names are.

The former "Master" and "Grandmaster" armour AND symbols both have a skill-up bonus (5% for Master and 10% for Grandmaster) - the armours are "Intricate" and "Elaborate" respectively, and the Symbols are "Sacred" and "Eminent" respectively).

                  Thanks for the tips

Will be doing the armour since I can get skill ups on making the cultural swatches till 122.

                      Upto 202 now

                      Cultural swatches to 122
                      master wu to 158
sunshard dust combines to 170 (used about 250)
cultural wrist & cultural gloves -186
cultural wrists - 202 at mo, but will do upto 212

Then do the augs as i have plenty of lambent stones and they only use one swatch upto 222

                        I'm upto 275 now.

Sunshard Pebbles were ok, though the powerbelts might be better when you start using 3 sunshard pebbles.
Wasp silk was excellent for skill ups and actually had more than I needed.

Master cultural was the best skill ups, though components scarce.
Othmir fur was pretty rubbish. I think I averaged 1 skill up per 200 fur.
Sunshard ore seems to be 1 skill up in 20, expensive costs me 1200pp per combine and sells to vendor for 380pp

Gonna have another blast with sunshard ore once I have my jewelary craft up some more. Failing the jewelary combines was just too expensive

I might be forced to farm nightmare archanid or wait for the new changes to finish it off, unless I manage to sell some more doubloons.

as far as the sunshard armors my opinion would be to just due wrists since those just use 1 per combine as apposed to 2 or 3. same sell back price of 380 but only uses about 460 per combine. They trivial at 303 so you can still go all the way with them but wont burn through cash quite as fast as doing some of the other armor.

Yep thats what I have been doing, though I haven't actually got any skill ups.

First time I have done 80 combines with no skill ups

                              Consider yourself extremly lucky.

Wait until you do 500 non trivial combines without a skill up, or 1000. When the RNG is bad it can be really bad and every combine becomes "just one more, because this has got to be the one that I get a skillup from."

Thankfully, I have not seen anything over 180 for a long time, and even crossing 100 combines is unusual, but now days I have much higher stats and usually max out the Mastery series before I start working on maxing the trade skill.
