  • Ogres and Tailoring

    I was wondering why Ogres were given DoN tailoring combines but LoY combines never occured?

    An Ogre can do the Journeyman, Expert, Master, and Grandmaster tailoring combines but Ogres have no ribbon combines at all? This does'nt make any sense to me. Why one and not the other?

    That would be because everybody can make the ribbons. Only the races that can be intelligence casters have robes they can make with the ribbons (Because they have a research sub-combine).

      Ogres and leather stuff kinda go together.

      Ogres making pretty, frilly ribbons and robes are another thing altogether. BAD mental image! {giggles}

      Lord Grimrose has the correct line of reasoning for why they didn't get LoY combines, but ... now to get the image of the House Ogre bedecked in ribbons out of my minds.

      {shakes head}

            Lucky you.

            My mental image was house ogre in belly-dancer style (silk ribbons strategically placed thankfully) doing piroets sing "Im so pretty."

                I've always tried to imagine a big hulking Ogre, hunched over in front of a fire trying to grasp a needle between giant thumb and finger. Can you imagine how frustrated an Ogre must get trying to thread a needle? Would they use a halfling helmet as a thimble?

                    I asked, because I am currently playing an Ogre and its a pain when my path is limited/restricted to certain items only. When in later expansions, I basically stand on same ground as others. I am on progression, so our paths are even more limited.

                    I can make the ribbons but cannot put them to use.

                      afghans

                      My ogre crochets very nice afghans and is working on mastering tattering (lacemaking).

                        I understand completely.

                        As a barbarian warrior I had limited options for my tailoring skill up path, limited to just the general recipes that all have. I made ribbons as far up the path as I could and sold them back to the merchant for a loss. At the time I could break even by selling some ribbons to the robe makers but that didn't last long at all.

                          I think for the sake of all our psyches, we have to assume that "strategically placed" for an ogre means "wrap him up like a mummy".
