    options?

My tailor is 55 and working to get tailoring up high enough to do the master's level cultural tailoring. She is too low to go to the steppes to farm the wasp spider silk. (It sells for 5K in bazaar and I'm not willing to pay that much for 1 skillup attempt). Right now I'm using arctic wyvern armor and coranthus entrails to skillup. Any other options without killing othmir? (I kinda like fishing there and using the merchants - would be nice if they sold bait and fishing poles though.)

as far as bait and fishing poles just do the fisherman's companion quest (2 valorium discus bones and 2 nightmare chichlid bones) thats unlimited fishing poles and find someone to make you the bait dispenser and use up all them worthless fishies(the normal ones and the ones that arent the cobalt cod) and you'll in theory have unlimited bait

In theory, you'll have unlimited bait... in practice, you'll be wanting to destroy stacks upon stacks of the stuff after a short period of time. Each Fresh Fish = 10 bait. Roughly fish give you 1 bait per .1 wt ratio, although there are exceptions. So say every fifth time you get a Fresh Fish (not unreasonable), you're getting twice as much bait as you are using. That stacks up pretty soon.

yeah, but at least the homemade bait stacks to 250, not just 20.

Pretty sure I am kindly or so to the othmirs, as I am one of the lucky few races able to use Shissar Scales for Masters Tailoring. I always have the ingrediants for a new Ancestral Book in the bank, only needing to replace the Glowing thing everytime then getting a new book. I am doing the arms till they triv in the 290s, am 276 now and have several hundred scales. Am doing them sort of as I get that and watching the thread in the General forum for any sign of an ETA as to when they won't work anymore.

You see, I figure since Smithing and Tailoring are both gonna get smacked with the changes, at least if I have Tailoring to 300, I will only have to worry about smithing. One nightmare is better than 2.

Still no ETA but as other have said before, work on it as much as time allows to clear out your stockpile.

I'm max ally to Othmir as I did the shawl quest initially and killed many ulthork plus I did a number of lodi shell shield quests just to sell for money =)

                    Otter Slaughter

Let me share the reason for my hatred of the Othmirs. Back when I was a 40-something druid, I was ally to the Othmir. They were my buddies-- I killed plenty of Ulthorks. I would regularly port over to buy brewing stuff to make coldain tempers-- we were happy. Well, until the one day they turned on me! I went to buy some brewing stuff from them and they all jumped me. Seems that they didn't like my wolf form. Well, I didn't think that was too cool. So, I pledged to bring Genocide upon them. I lvled up on the otters pretty much to 60, soloing. At first, I was only able to handle one at a time. But as I grew in lvls, I was able to take 2, 3, then quad them. Now, at 75, with every AA, I still pay them visits every now and then. The only difference is that I run the whole beach, gathering up every last one- including their pups, into one big group. They haplessly do more damage to themselves than they do to me. With one or 2 PBAOEs, All that is left of the horde is a pile of corpses. I gather up their fur, gems, and armor. To add insult to their injury, I visit their own merchant. with a right click on the vendor and a simultanious click of my instant invis AA, I am indifferent and can sell him the good of his scum brothers. I can proudly say that for years I have been max ally with my friends, The Ulthorks.

Managed to hit 300 as well without ever actively taking part in killing any of the cute Othmirs. (I had bought maybe 100 hides max during the course of my run.)

You should use a club on their pups.

I hit 300 without killing a single othmir. I can run among them in wolf form with no troubles.

I did buy two othmir fur to make my trophy, but the seller assured me that they came from some othmir that died of old age...

Once upon a time all illusions changed your faction.. In particular minor illusion made you indiff to everything and wolf form got you KoS in lots of places (including all of kunark) and also allowed you to go in some places you would normally get killed.

This has been changed a couple years ago so only player character races can alter your faction. Thus removing the problems with wolf form in some of Velious and all Kunark.
