  • Storm volaas hairs vs. holgresh

Storm volaas hairs x 6 or holgresh fur x 4?

I am a HE trying to decide whether to do master cultural legs/bp or holgresh fur cloak to finish up tailoring. Can anyone tell me from experience which of the two farms better?

    Thank you,
    Sunaeri

Hubby plays a pally.. as such he has farmed volaas hairs for me.... 1-5 per hour before he goes to work, and at lunch....depending on drops.... not reliable, but.. look at your racial leather also... as a drakkin using volaas hairs hurts, but leather drakkin tailoring uses shissar scales.. MUCH easier to get.

High elves don't get leather recipes presumably because we do not have any leather wearing classes.

It looks like I will be hunting holgreshes. I never liked them anyway.

Depending on your server's economy, if crushed diamond dust is in good supply and not too expensive. Master lvl augs are a good skill up path.

If you can farm the silks then it is even better, nightmare arachnids still give noticable exp at 75 and depending on your class/lvl it is easy to kill all of them and have time to med to full before respawn.

I know a few people who have skilled up with the augs and say it is the best way they could find. They are what I plan to use as well.

            K dont take this but:
Nightmare silk easy to camp? News to me last few times Ive tried ive been plagued by wandering adds. And who can forget the lovely little spiders that drop down from the threes randomly. Jummy.

Anything involving CDD has never been a viable skill up route fro mmy personal experience. At best you they good for the occasiona l combine.

From personal epxerience Holgresh still the only viable farmable skilluproute to finish it off. Unless you a guild TS mule which get fed TS components.

Now there is 1 lesser route. Which yo ucan choose. its a tad less stable then holgresh and alot more random. But gives diversety. is western wastes. In perticulary around zone in. The mastadons teh iceburrowers and the wolves.

while more random and less reliable then holgresh. They are what ive seen the only other option when holgresh is taken or you just need a break from thoose wingged Othmirs.
Note: Due to a hand injury caused by a friend throwing a broken scissor into my hand my typing = crap. So dotn be so critical.

              Othmir fur (cloak trivial 295)
              Holgresh fur (cloak 300+)
              Velium Hound fur (cloak 300+)
              Ice burrower silk (amice 300+)

Those are all items you can try to gather.

The problem with Storm Volaas hair is the poor drop rate, and those giants are really a bit tough to kill in mass quantities like you can do with holgresh or othmir (but they do give some xp). I can wipe out the entire cave of holgresh in the same time as 1 giant kill.

I've tried to do giants several times. It's a pretty long road that way.

I never had real issues with the adds..the ones that drop from the trees are a trap of sorts and I don't seem to get jumped by them if I pull from range. In my case (enchanter) I have the advantage of Pacify in addition to Mez. I would have done more of these for skill ups but in doing a hundred or two combines of Master level gear, I never got any skill ups. This is unusual but I went back to Othmirs and Holgreshes.

Your adds problem is more to do with where you set up and how you pull than the camp itself. There are several places where you can set up and pull to and never get adds. The traps are easy to avoid you just pull from a distance on those. Or trigger them and pull them for more silks. CDD is rather common anymore after the last 3 expansions where it drops like rain.

Holgresh furs, Othmir furs, and the Ice Silk, are from my experience are far more uncommon than the cultural drops nowadays. They also cost a LOT more to do per combine. In fact the sub combines for the cultural diety augs are really the only cultural drops that have really been fixed. The rest are still out of wack.

**** you must have had the worst luck ever with the RNG if you did 100+ master combines and never got a skill up, with the 5% skill up bonus from master's gear combines.

note that Ts supplies vary by server. tough If thye are as easy as you say then please write and publish/submit a guide. I would gladly accept it =)

The little spiders in PoN are traps set into some of the trees. If you are careful and do not walk under the branches of any of the trees there, then you can farm all day without setting off any of them.

Set up camp on the hill and pull to there using ranged attacks/spells you should be fine.

For crushed diamond dust, it drops like candy in TSS. Especially in Sunderock (kill orc miners in the two horse-shoe cave areas, easy single pulls, never more than 2) or The Steppes (lizards, spiders, etc).

Basically anything that has a chance of dropping one of teh ingredients needed for the master artisans charm drops CDD as well, so use that as your guide and make some extra cash by selling the artisan charm ingredients you get whilst farming.

EDIT: Also remember that Master and Grand Master level cultural gets a skill-up bonus IIRC, so you should get skill-ups on fewer combines.
