  • Ok tailoring, it's your turn now!

300 to all, including research, with 1 exception. Tailoring at 257.

It's been a long time really, as I was 200 tailoring way back in Velious days. I was doing tailoring and making handmade backpacks way back at level 20 (100pp each!) to sell. It was actually one of the very first things I learned, and I used to wear a full set of raw silk armor!

It will be interesting to see how it goes now. From the first thing I learned, to being the final thing I skill up on.

Good luck. Come to think of it I think Tailoring was my first skill as well.. I recall making my own patchwork armor and my friends thinking I was weird for even bothering (but then they'd been playing for a few weeks and already had a piece or two of bronze )

Oddly smithing was my first tradeskill on my mage before I knew I can summon pet weapons . However I only raised it to 122, but tailoring I quickly raised to 252. It is a difficult tradeskill to master for a HIE and I wish you the best of luck on it. Just making it to expert level on a race that does not use Shissar scales is a accoplishment of it's own. Best of luck on master and may Tunare be with you

Good luck! Tailoring is a royal pain, but if you managed to get Research to 300, then you'll be able to gut out maxing Tailoring no problem.

If your race can use Nightmare Arachnid Silk for DoN master armor you should try this route. Arms till 290 then chest/leg piece (use 3 swatches) and/or symbols (use 1 swatch and 1 Crushed Diamond Dust). If you can get cheap Hides/shimmering silk for Seals buy them and make seals.
If you are an Erudite another option is making Rigid Steelweave Bracer they are 335 trivial.

Unfortunately those suggestions won't work, as I am a High Elf. And although I'm capable of killing PoStorm giants for hairs, the droprate and difficulty of doing so is prohibitive.

I'm going the Othmir/Holgresh fur route for now, with a few skill ups in other things like instruction parchments (which I use anyway, so good to do when possible).

I totally empathize with you. I am HE myself and the only skill not at 300 is tailoring. I tried the Storm Giants and had very little success. I am sticking to Othmir/Holgresh myself. I set up in bazaar as a buyer with each set to 300pp. There would be days with nothing then one day I would get like 30 of them then I do a run. Slow for sure but it's easy way to do it as long as my funds hold up.

                To get to 276

Just reached 276 in tailoring today. And as a dwarf with no cultural tailoring whatsoever, I've been thinking as out of the box as possible.

Othmir begins to be a real pain by the time you reach 268 and need to make the cloak. 4 skins pr combine.

But... If you keep an eye out for sporali skins and witheran biles in the bazaar this can get you to 276 making prepared sporali skins. Don't pay too much though, because both biles and to some degree skins are farmable solo.

Witherans in Stoneroot, right at the waterfall area, is pretty good for the biles, theough the drop rate can be extremely random. Some days its one in 4-5 mobs that drop a bile, some days its one in 15... But you do get a bit xp.

Havn't really tried farming skins much, came to a bad end in Direwind trying to solo the shrooms there as they have a pretty unresistable root proc or something. Maybe it was bad luck picking on the shaman as it kept dispelling me and hasting itself and adds.

Though did try farming the sporali skins in Undershore. These are so low con they don't give xp to a 75. But theres about 10 mobs there, and got 2 drops the one time I tried. Downside to this is there aren't any more shrooms around there after you kill the 10. The upside is that there are 2 NPC merchants in the tents nearby, that often have both skins and biles on them

I am working on tailoring too. (260) I like the idea of the prepared sporali skins. My plan is to hunt shadowmanes in Stoneroot, as whiteran can add at the camp anyway.

Plan B when I am bored with plan A, ice burrower silk and velium hound fur in WW just because I like that zone.

Plan C, hunt in Dreadspire with groups for xp and make some seals when that stuff drops.

Does anyone know of anything in TSS? I want to start hunting in Ashengate for AC augs, but I don't seem to see anything to help my tailoring dropping there that I can think of. I don't want to derail the thread, but it's good info if there is something in a new expansion.

Another fun camp that I enjoy is in the plane of water at oofasa's room. The mobs drop ice, slime and strands for tailoring and other goodies for many tradeskills. I still hunt here a lot, but find I am using my ice for fletching instead. I am going to make someone's day with soapstones in the bazaar sometime hehe.

Crushed diamond dust is more common now, but random. It's not bad to keep an eye out for it. I tend to try and collect it, and when I have a stack I go to the Shissar temple and gather a stack of scales. I am hoping I can resist combining these for the moment.

I don't think I can stand othmir much longer.

Yeah, I see that now. I'm at 269.

Bought 100 othmir fur, which is 25 cloak combines. Zero skill-ups. . .

I'm getting there, but it's slow.

I only recently started working tailoring past 240 and I found a few nice little bonus skill ups. While you are buying/farming othmir/holgresh I picked up stuff in bazaar and vendors to do following combines

                      262 Tailor ceramic clay
262 Faded feran belt only 1 blood and 1 skin
several other feran and mukglider combines. check em out. Often you can pick up the bloods and skins cheap.

335 Firehide cap note i do belive each elemental plane has a "easy" but expensive route like this. You can often find the components on plane of tranquility vendors =)

Do you have a good source of extra combines? or are you just a pure farmer that do holgresh/othmir only?
Note: Due to a hand injury caused by a friend throwing a broken scissor into my hand my typing = crap. So dotn be so critical.

                          At 287 now.

Prior to hitting 276, I did a lot of prepared sporali skins.

Pretty much just doing Othmir/Holgresh right now, but also Velium Hound fur and Ice burrower silk.

The firehide sounds feasible, as a mage I can do the imbue myself. I'll have to keep an eye out for some of that stuff. Especially at 295+, when Othmirs are no longer a skillup.

I'm, uh, indifferent to othmir. As long as I use Sneak.

Blumblum Swigwater tells you, "I will pay you 8 silver 5 copper for that Othmir Meat, Zolina!"

I didn't ask what he intended to do with it.

295 now. Got an unexepected run of skill ups and ended up with a bag full of othmir fur still left over. So some guildmate will be happy soon.

So, the othmirs are safe from me now. Maybe someday I'll repair faction
