  • Is Ceremonial Solstice Robe still a good skill up path?

Since they changed the Trivial to 252 any people stopped using them to skill up. The original idea was that Gem Studded Chains were expensive and you wanted to fail to get the chain back. With the lowered trivial many people were succeeding too often for their tastes and left this path by the wayside.

That being said you can usually find dozens if not hundreds of Gem Studded Chains on the vendors in PoK (Particularly the JC and Smithing Vendors) for a little over 10p each As people skilling up on JC will dump them at a major loss.

Depends if you're rich and have time. It's the easiest way without having to pharm lots, but it'll cost you for the convenience. I went that way myself because I could afford it, but for most they cannot. If you're not willing to allocate up to 100k, I'd say no.

Lord Grimrose nailed it - only thing I have to add is that the chains cost about 24 plat off vendors rather than 10p.

It's a very viable path if you can find chains on vendors, which doen't seem to be a problem lately. Last night I went through PoK on Stromm and saw more than 1'000 of them on vendors.

        Edit: spelling

or if you are doing chains are part of your jewelry crafting skill-up path.

            Jeweling

Yeah, I finally jeweled my way to 300, and have 100s of 100s of chains on a few alts- I'll use those later for tailoring!

my basic issue atm is before TSS, i ran out of aa, so i got all mastery aa... /cheer...

now i check the tradeskill calculator and find at 158 skill atm... 600 combines should take me to like 222 skill but require 437 chains.. omg. without the mastery that would have been like 300 chains.

Good news is, the more fails you got the more chains you got returned. The bad news is you get more skillups on successes.

Considering all the gems and such that are required, not to mention the trivial, I can't believe that the CSR is worth 37 tribute points. Especially when the MCS is 1200+ points.

I was glad for the skill-ups I got, but for me, it's not worth the effort on the ceremonial solstice robe. I now know why it's not on the skill-up path lists. If you have worked silver chains to burn and a bunch of spare silks and such, all the power to you. I would rather push jagged broken bottles into my eyes and strangle myself with wet, white, hotel towels before doing another set of CSRs to skill up. I'll take corathus entrails any day over that.
