  • Akhevan Shadow Sheers question?

I just came into some Akhevan Shadow Sheers my guild was nice enough to award them to me. Well my skill is at 181 currently but with the +15% tailoring mod it will bump my skill to 208. What I was wondering is if I should I start doing items that are higher than 208 to get skill ups or should I take them off and just do what I was doing before I got the sheers

It depends on your wis/int. Even with the sheers equipped, something that trivials at say 188 will still give you skillups until your actual skill hits 188. If you can maintain 255 int/wis with the shears equipped then you'll get the bonus of more successes, which means you can sell the successfully created product to buy more supplies. Of course if you're skilling up on solstice robes it's usually better to fail them but get skillups because that way your gem studded chain doesn't get eaten. (unless you find a market for robes, but so many people have skilled up on them the market is usually pretty well stocked with them)

And of course, it depends on if you could get ingredients for higher difficulty items, have more anticipation of selling...

But, yes, the point you really wanted clarified is that it doensn't change your actual skill level for skilling up.

AND you are in a very nice position. Once you hit 192, you get to skillup to 212 making ethereal silk swatches (you will have to bug a 220 brewer to make you the tempers though). Strands of ether are usually plentiful on vendors (although with all the server resets it may be harder than normal) and are like 2pp each. If I remember correctly each swatch cost about 10pp in materials (made my own curing agent), and the further combine to make cured ethereal energy also gives you a shot a skillups.
