  • path past 202

    So, i'm a 202 tailor.. 70 monk.. iksar
Looking for a way to get up past 202, all the routes I look are such a pain. The velious so far seems best to me, but furs aren't too terribly common. I've thought about the cultural route.. but it takes great reptile hides.. which also look like they'll be a pain.. so looking for another route, Thanks!

Master's DoN isn't a great option for you, but the expert tier trivials out at 222 and uses drachnid silk. The silk is pretty easy to get ahold of, especially since they made the Dreadlands a hot spot - can be foraged there as well as mob dropped. I know it's only 20 points, but it's a start.

      210-212 do ethereal swatches
      expert's to 222
From 220 or so to 240's I did a mixture of reinforced acrylia armor, master's cultural (vah shir) and GoD whips. The whips really aren't a bad way to go, they require mob drops, but not anything hard to get and are generally for sale in the baz. The resale value of the whips to venders nearly covers the cost of the supplies. Mix in velious armor when it is convenient. I've never been a fan of hunting greens for TS drops, so I've mostly avoided working on any velious furs.

      After 240 go GM armor/symbols.

Do you really think after 240 going onto GM armor/symbols is good? Isn't it almost guaranteed fail? That's a huge plat sink it would seem..

At 202 Tailoring myself. My path will be Corathus Entrails to 252. Two combines per Entrail that triv at 252 is rather nice. It's a bit expensive to make a combine, both need platinum thread which is over 200pp. However, the final product is used for AAAA and yields 5 of it that vendors for 47pp. So maybe I'll vendor some and sell some in the bazaar. Good luck!

I did the coranthus entrails to 252 and got mastery 3 before I tried GM tailoring. Lvl 70 Iksar shammie and the success rate seems about the same as my GM smithing with 300 skill + 15% mod. I've gotten 11 skill ups so far and made a profit.

With the new ooc regen, You might want to look at solistise robes too. Way back when, I used this to skill up from right after WUs trivialed. I skipped ribbons altogether. At the time I just lvled a cleric to 30ish and imbued my own emeralds, this was quite painfull at the time as I think I could only get three mass imbues before oom. When guild lobby (pool) opened it became less so but still a pain. With new ooc it should be easy and spider silks are cheap now that they nerfed the trivial of the robe.

I think back on this time with some regret. I eventually lvled my cleric some more to 45 for kei and with guild lobby I had started a complete factory line for tunare silks and chains, even paying a couple guildys for sub combines. I was pumping out nearly a thousand finished tunare silks a day while in full production, I only used enough to get my skill to 251 one skill point under the nerf Then I proceeded to sell all the rest on two traders one carried chains the other silks. I used the money from this to fund my other tradeskill addictions. All in all there is probably quite a few 300 tailors on my server who got a helping hand from me. Lol years later I am still 255 base skill. I should have finished to 300 then started my tailoring business enterprise.

Hmm maybe to pricey a path though if you have mastery tailoring aas as chains are 250ish pp per and you want to fail as many combines as possible to keep the chains.

Oh, yes, how can I forget these! I will do a few of these I'm thinking.. because, I don't have the AAs, so I can still fail a bit, and there's jeweler's on my server who skillup with these.. sooo... they sell them to vendors , which means I can buy em =)

I went with Othmir fur stuff most of the way up after Solstice robes became expensive (I was making the chains for JC). Holgresh fur stuff is cheaper but the drop rate is a little less. Still worth farming them though since they are rarely camped.

Don't forget to check regularly on JC vendors for Gem Studded Chains that other players made and sold back.

I scored 330 of them a while ago after someone must have gone for JC skills-ups in a hurry. They cost only 24 plat per from the vendor, making the silks the expensive part of the combine.
