Expert symbols of skeptic (or whatever) till 222. You'll find drachnid silk to drop a lot as well as foragable if your a foraging class in DL. Lambent stones drop on an okay basis in a few zones for the experts water combine (requires JC) and of course the expert quest (not hard or time consuming).

From 223-242, use acrylia masks with flawless rockhopper hides (or alternatively to 231, make whips using hynid manes then continue with acrylia), you'll find them to have a decent drop rate in ML. Acrylia drops all over the place in Luclin, but acrylia caverns being the best place to farm it.

From 243-252 I suggest the velious path making stuff from either velium studs or velium boning. The hardest part is the hides. They do not have the best drop rate, but at only 9 points, it is better then spending a megaton of platinum making the stuff with corathus entrails (but they do drop a lot).

If your not a race that can use shissar scales for tailoring master's gear, welcome to the typical world of shanked in the rear. There is no easy method from 253-300. There are a few ways, but they are very time consuming and expensive (well, master's gear is still expensive, but not time consuming as shissar scales drop like a swarm of mosquito's to a flame thrower)

Othmir fur caps and ceremonial solstice robes are also a good option around 188.

          TRIV 252 Epicthieck's Power Belt
corathus entrails + platinum thread + skinning knife

TRIV 252 Small Epicthieck's Power Belt
Epicthieck's Power Belt + platinum thread + skinning knife

1 coratus entrails nets you 2 possible skillups. Not to mention these will sell as the belts are used in AAAAs. They are easy to get, can buy en mass in bazaar or camp the coratus slug guys by the creep reapers in CC.

Platinum thread costs 209pp each I think, it's only a good skill-up path if you have a lot of platinum to spend.

If you do decide to farm creep reapers, save all the drops from there and get the collection quests from Bellfast as soon as your faction is high enough. Most of the parts you need to make an AAAA and a Holepoker drop in that camp.

For my halfling druid, I'm using the following path:

212 Expert Sleeves (HQ Wolf Skins)
222 Expert Legs/Chests (HQ Wolf Skins)
242 Acrylia Reinforced Masks (Acrylia and Flawless Rockhopper Hides)
252 Arctic Wyvern Masks (Cobalt Cod and Arctic Wyverns Hides)
252 Epictheick's Belts (Regular and Small, Corathus Entrails)
              252+ Othmir, Holgresh, Ice Silk

Also getting Mastery 3 and will be throwing in DoDH seals also as I get materials. For Wolf Skins, Nederia's is truly the best spot. The anacondas are wolf placeholders, so kill them along with wolves. I have a froggy toon parked at the Forager in Gukta to convert LQ->MQ->HQ as I go. As I'm working to 222 my buyer is nabbing all the Flawless Hides it can for a massive run once I hit 222. After that I expect it to get slow because my stockpile of materials above that is pretty bare atm.

Also working the little duder's Smithing...god, I hate the Deep already for my tinkerer...now its back to it again for Halfling Master smithed armor...*sigh*

hehe, im too poor to do en-mass combines for tailoring but..
i have the same idea for my iksar..
only problem? i hate farming the drachnid silks/lambent stones (well, i enjoy bashing the giants but the drop rate is horrible for me, and i still need the silks )
atm im just using the actual armor combines (8p or so more per combine but no lambent stone *shrugs*) as i get the silk every once in a while
very slow going for me but it works..

my biggest problem with tailoring is my mind does too much math as im looking at tradeskill items in baz..
if i didnt automatically figure up the amount of combines i can buy drachnid silk for and still have enough cash to do the actual combines.. i might not have the low skill i have
..but.. id be spending alot of time on getting cash

LOL compared to what most tailoring components cost 210pp a combine is a drop in the bucket.

The great thing about skilling up on epicthiek's power belts is that the resultant combine is actually worth something to a vendor. They sell for 47 plat a piece, and the second combine gives you 5 of them.

The other tailoring skillups at that point are worth practically nothing. Corathus entrails seriously are the best thing to farm at that point, if you farm othmir, you have effectively no plat income at all. At least with entrails you can sell saltpeters, the occasional clockwork gnome bolt, and lots of the other stuff does nicely at vendors.

Keep sporali skins and any witheran biles you get, use those for skillups when you get to 252, they are good until 276, for instruction parchments. (it would be a great skillup combine except that sporali skins are kindof rare)

I thought people could farm around 10k a day selling the armor/gems that dorp off othmir?

My halfer followed a similar path, but with a twist. Instead of Acrylia Reinforced Masks, I made Cloaks. And instead of Arctic Wyvern Masks, I made Wristbands.

Why? Because you're going to end up with a lot of the darned things, and it turns out the AR Cloaks and AW Wrists have much better tribute rate. The masks tribute for 12 and 18. The cloaks were worth 804, the wristbands 802. Yes, it meant farming (or bazaar-buying) more acrylia and velium, but that's easy compared to farming or buying the hides, so I felt it was worth the extra expense to get such a big difference in tribute value.

Well, I'm usually a litterbug with the Acrylia Reinforced stuff...I just let it drop and then dump whatever got stuck in my bags.

I've been slow working on the tailoring since I've been taking care of a lot of plate/chain orders. Had a good run until today when I crashed and burned on 3 bp/leg combines in a row. God that hurt. But I managed to break even by the end of the evening with the lower trivial stuff and symbols to go with them.

Time to build a dwarf smith and take care of that market now. Tailoring will just have to wait until my buyer nets more materials.
