The recipe as listed on the eqtraders tailoring page:

silk thread, low quality cat/bear/wolf skin/hide

*or* shade silk thread (or silk thread), low quality rockhopper hide

*NO recipe has been found to turn Velious pelts into padding

I'll report that the shade silk threads are working with the old world pelts now.

I think silk threads have always been usable with hopper hides. Glad to hear that the other way round works also, now

The last time I tried combining regular silk threads with LQ Rockhopper, I got a DNC. Haven't tried it in a while and I do have several LQ Rockhopper I need to do something with.

As soon as they added the option to make leather padding from hopper hides, silk threads would work with hopper hides. They shadeling silk threads would not work with old world pelts though.

If they make shadeling silks work with old world stuff, maybe all shade silks work now. I got tons of shade silk, much easier to get than regular silk.

Has anyone tried LQ coyote pelts yet? I haven't had a chance to check if they can be used for leather padding too.

Thank god, now I have something to do with the 220 shadeling silks that dropped off the lesser shades I was farming swirling shadows off of before I wised up and moved to shadow island in TS.

Tried this morning, shade silk thread+LQ cat pelt gave DNC in a loom in Shadowhaven.

I've been working on gathering up stacks of leather padding for a big smithing run, but so far I've seen:

LQ cat/wolf/bear + silk thread = leather padding
LQ hopper + silk thread = leather padding
LQ hopper + shade silk thread = leather padding
LQ cat/wolf/bear + shade silk thread = DNC

Annoying to say the least. :evil:

EDIT: I meant that having a stack of cat pelts and a stack of shade threads that didn't combine was annoying, not that previous posts or authors were.

Why so many Failures on a trivial

My skill in tailoring is not much over the trivial for leather padding, yet I am failing more than one third of the time. With other trade skills and combines it seems 90% success is common once the item becomes trivial.
