  • On Progression Server, tailoring above 158?

I am currently at 138 tailoring on the Combine server (a progression server).

Currently only the old world is available (no expansions).

I've been making Wu's armor, but I will cap out fairly soon on it and after that I have no idea what to make.

What can I start preparing for to get over 158 skill in tailoring?

It seems that there aren't any old recipes over 158 skill to me, I can't find any, except fleeting quiver which is of course 222 skill, much too high at the moment (and prohibitively expensive).

What tailoring recipes can I pursue that use ingredients available in the Old World with no expansion items (or MAYBE kunark since it opens the 28th, but I'd prefer non kunark of course).

Pre-Kunark the max on tailoring other than Fleeting Quiver was 115 tailored quivers.

I think you are lucky even to be able to do Wu's.

I don't believe there will be anything higher until Velious.

      Relax until Velious...or...

Basically Kurnak gave us nothing in the way of tradeskills. Back when it came out we were stuck with Tailoring at 115 (rolled back from 135 which was original max using reinforced lether). Wu's was a bone throne in for monks around when Kurnak came out because they don't have a class specific armor.

However ....or....if you don't have carpal tunnel yet,

If you plan ahead you can be in good shape for Velious. Go ahead now and max all your tradeskills to about 180 (smithing will be most expensive.) That is if you are a healer/caster. This is because the prayer shawl quest requires a bunch of skills in the range of about 160 to 180 to complete.

Be sure not to push something over 199 though. Because you will be stuck with that skill as your main tradeskill until Planes of Power comes out. I don't think they let you specialize during Luclin in more then one skill (aaxp earned). I think that all came later in PoP. This assumes that when Luclin opens, they don't give everyone all the pre-60 aaxps. Normally, you'd get the option to major in more then one tradeskill at level 51.

New Tanaan Crafting Mastery was slipped in about a week before PoP was released, so technically it is a Luclin AA. It will be interesting to see if it is avail on progression servers upon the opening of Luclin though or if they wait for PoP. One things for sure about Luclin: Solstice kits will be high demand again.

I don't remember it like that. As I remember it NTCM wasn't added till a lil after PoP or with PoP's launch at the earliest. It came out about the same time that the Aid Grimmel Quest came out. Besides there was no New Tanaan before PoP.

Actually, NTCM came about a month or so before PoP. I remember Khoren Stonefall's post when he first hit 1750 (he was the first) and the ruckus it caused. He mentioned that NTCM had come out pre-PoP, and that he'd had a bunch of AA saved at the time.

Yeah, did some looking around apparently it snuck out on the patch on the 17th (4 days before PoP launched). Not sure if it ever was said whether that was intended or accidental and just not worth taking the servers down to change for 4 days. I'm guessing the latter.

The original poster did mention Fleeting Quivers. However, they are not a skillup option due to the rarity of the HQ Lion Skin.

With each sapphire costing above 100 plat (need two for Vial of Distilled Mana), it would probably be pretty hard to get to 222 :/

Just as much as an option as Inferno Scepters! Probably alot less actually
less... I'd bet people don't have anywhere near 1/10th (Inferno Scepter is around 10 times as much to make I think) if the plat people have on normal servers >< But yeah... for the "determined" tradeskillers, that's always an option. (I'd wait for Velious )

Actually, if I recall correctly the Fleeting Quiver recipe itself didn't even exist until several years and numerous expansions after the game went live. Only the pattern existed.

[edit] Yup. Take a look at the Fleeting Quiver's Item History page over on Lucy. It didn't even show up in the items database until at least the end of 2002. [/edit]

I started playing in Kunark, and I recall that 115 was the max possible tailoring at that time. The Wu's recipes (except for Wu's fighting gauntlets, which were already there and have lower trivial than the others) didn't come out until quite some time after I started playing. Judging from the alla tunic page, it would seem they came out in May 2001. Scars of Velious came out Dec 4, 2000 and Luclin came out Dec 3, 2001- so the Wu's recipes other than gauntlets were mid-Velious, not Kunark at all. I think Fleeting Quiver went in at about the same time. GM tailoring in early Velious era was obscenely hard.

uncleshmoozo- the first entry for rusty dagger and Short Sword of the Ykesha on lucy are also in 2002- that's when that database started, or at least when they started dating entries. It's very clear that older items entered the game before that date. Alla's FQ page has comments about making/buying them back to summer 2001.
