Denmother had a quote "Yes, this means that a dark elf can do the spell research combines for an erudite, etc., etc. And since spell research IS a skill which you can "buy" up at your trainer, it truly shouldn't be an issue to find some skilled spell researcher on your server."

SInce research is now a "real" tradeskill, have they modifed the ability to "buy" skill past 20? Or is it now capped at 20 for training up like all the other trade skills? Anyone checked this post patch?

      Research Skill up

Yesterday I started Research at 129. I apprached my trainer expecting to be turned away, but he trained me (starting around 19pp) all the way to 185. Yes the price did rise as my skill did.

I casually strolled up to my trainer yesterday evening after work with 147 skill in Research and walked away 2 min later with 200 skill Research and my coin purse about 2.5kpp lighter. So YES you can dump points into Research past skill level 20. And just think, about 2 months ago I was wondering what in the world I was gonna do with 200+ skill points that I had never used

What makes research any more "real" now than it was before?

nothing really, what he meant was that it now has a support use for other tradeskills, similar to brewing's support role, which makes it similar to a normal tradeskill, and therefore could be considered "more normal" than it used to be.

              research training

I went to my trainer at 177 skill and he said...

"You already know more than me, what could I possibly teach you?"
