I skilled up to 290 (from 260) using DoN master's armor (arms I believe) and was getting good skillup rates, 1 per 15-20 combines. Now that I am only able to get skillups off of bp/legs, it has slowed down...1 skillup in 109 combines (101 successful). Is this just a bad run of the RNG, or is this the skillup rate I can expect from here on?

It's a bad run. But not unbelievable. It does slow down up there a lot. I got to 294 with master's armor and then stopped. Was good eneogh for me. Got to 300 doing actual GM items / augs, took about 3 months or so because I wasn't very active doing it.
Oh, I'm lying.. I got to 299 like that, then a friend dumped 3 stacks of shissar scales on me and I got the last skillup from master's again. -
