  • Best Way To Acquire Tailored GM Armor?

I returned to EQ relatively recently, and one of my goals is to acquire a full suit of GM armor for my Iksar Monk. As you are aware, GM armor isn't cheap. I am a casual player, and my best plat-farm is farming Othmir Furs, where I average around 3K per hour.

It doesn't take a mathematician to realize that at 3K an hour, we are talking about me camping Othmirs into my golden years in order to afford a full suit of GM armor.

My question is this: Would it be cheaper/faster for me to learn tailoring for the purpose of tailoring my own GM armor, or for me to farm 3K an hour and buy it from a tailor?

Try and gather the components and make a deal with the Tailor. Most folks if you supply ALL materials will do the combines for a modest fee.

Then there's the small issue of finding a 250+Mastery 3 iksar tailor. <shrug> Maybe on Xegony the market is better.

Hmmm, I can't solo the stuff for the drops needed, and it seems doubtful I could get a group to do it (it is hard enough to find ANY xp group).

I only remember seeing one person selling Iksar GM Shadowrise armor, so I suspect there might be only 1 tailor on the whole server. I'll have to try to chase him down...

You would probably be better served doing DoDH missions and getting the free armor rewards. Visit Samanna's Reference Desk - DoDH Progression Quests and associated pages for a nice compilation of rewards.

I know there is at least one, if not two, Iksars on Xegony capable of making what you're looking for.

As for getting groups... I know exactly what you mean. It's such a pain getting a group for either my Cleric or my Paladin.

If you see me (Angelsyn) around, I'm really looking for people in their 60's to do some Lavaspinner missions. I'm willing to do no-cost combines on GM Augs for people who help me do the GM Aug quest.

If you are looking for racial tradeskillers use either http://www.eqrankings.com or http://eqplayers.station.sony.com and set search parameters for your class, tradeskill, and server. There are plenty of high skill people who don't actively produce gear to sell, but will do a combine for a decent price, or for free if it provides a chance to gain a skill point.
