  • Reviving a dead horse so I can beat on it some more

Many many months ago, there was talk from the devs that they were going to relook at the trivials of a bunch of tradeskill combines. They were going to analyze all the different combines and compare the rewards/results of the combines with the trivials. They were going to make adjustments where necessary and put those out on the test server to see if they were good and make more adjustments till they got them just right. Then they were going to put all those changes over on the live server. Then a couple days later all the tailoring trivials got hit with unannounced radical changes.

There was much complaining and it was revealed that those changes leaked out to the live servers by accident and were not intended to really go live. When asked if the trivials could be set back to where they were the response was that doing so would only serve to aggrevate players even more and that since all the trivial levels were set to change soon that they would just leave them at their new deflated values.

Fast forward a bunch of months... None of the other trivials seem to have changed. There doesn't seem to be much talk about realigning the trivial values any more. But, the accidental leakage of new tailoring trivials is still ou there.

Has everyone given up hope on getting the trivials back to where they were? Would returning the trivials really annoy/aggrevate players?

Take a look at this following post in the news section of Allakhazam (From the Halfling Hodgepodge Dev Q & A - November 30, 2005). It kinda states we should be looking at a January-February timeframe for this:

    http://everquest.allakhazam.com/news...tml?story=6629

The relevant part of this post is quoted below for convenience:

Is fletching going to be fixed for non karana followers and/or foragers?

We have several ideas on how to extend fletching beyond its current usefulness and limitations -- This includes adding additional means to obtain 300 skill for everyone, as well as adjusting the recipes which make it far too easy for certain races and / or classes to raise their skill. Without delving too deeply into the details, expect some changes in the near future (January / February timeframe).

Can we get some details on the plans to address the tradeskill issues with regards to skill up paths? Specifically, tailoring for non-karana worshipers and fletching for non-wood elfs or non-karana worshipers have nearly impossible skill up paths to 300.

This, much like the question asked above, is also on the board to be addressed by adding additional recipes as well as adjusting any of those recipes which are far too easy for certain races to gain skill with.

Yes it is quite funny that a slip up that happened back in February or so has not been reverted due to a coming soon change, which might actually make it 2 expansions later...

      Specifically, tailoring for non-karana worshipers
Hmm... I'm aware of the easier path for karanaians in fletching, but wasn't aware of one for tailoring. Was the asker confused or is there something I've overlooked. If the latter, please give details.

What accidental leakage are you talking about? The recipe for DoDh seals?

No, the change of trivials for many tailored items from 335 to 252, including Solstice robes and most Velious leathers. At one point Maddoc more or less admitted those were numbers he was playing around with, to test out an idea, and they somehow ended up on live servers. However, once the change had gone out, he also said it would be more disruptive to reverse it than to just keep it as is (with the lowered trivials).

I think we can expect some changes to a lot of tradeskill related stuff after the next expansion comes out, which seems to be 21st feb.

My plan is to max tailoring and smithing asap, fletching is allready done while I as a WE have the easy path because I bet the WE cultural combines will either be lowered triv or the reciepes changed to more difficult to get drops....

I recently got Smithing to 300 doing Mistletoe Cutting Sickles before they nerf the trivial and now I am working on Tailoring to get it to 300 before the recipe using Shissar Scales changes or the drop rate gets nerfed.

Hopefully, the new path they put in for Fletching above 282 for Non WE and Non Karana will be reasonable. Considering their past history, I am not holding my breath.

I doubt that the Shissar Scales drop rates will be lowered very much at all...

The idea will be that new items will replace evil drops like Storm Volaas Hair, Great Reptile Teeth & Hides & Chips of Granite.

Also, an increase in the drop rate of Coarse Spider Silks.

Actually, it is my understanding that they consider the Shissar Scale route "too easy", despite that it requires around 1000 or more scales and about 50k+ in bought materials (so, lots of farming...and not exactly "cheap", though not truly expensive, either.) And, yes, I do realize how rare/expensive the other races have it.

So, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the rate is lowered.

I wouldn't expect any new items at all. The very best you can hope for any of those things is an increased drop rate.

Actually, it's been declared that some items (Storm Volaas Hair, for example) drop from MoBs that are harder to kill than intended for the level of equipment made from the drops.

It's also been hinted that some (cultural) recipies will be changed, so you should use up whatever current drops you have before the change is made. (Which probably won't be until at least when the new expansion is out, if not two weeks after that.)
