  • High Elf Tailoring 252 - 300

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I have been pooring of the threads and was wondering if I have missed anything regarding skill paths for High Elves.

Basically, it appears the most common path to take is:

Farm Othmir fur, Holgresh Fur, Ice Burrower silk, and Velium Hound Fur. . .for hundreds of hours

The two things that are disappointing about this is the huge time sink on top of poor exp.

While I realize there isn't much of a way to get around the time sink part does anyone have a suggestion for farming stuff that is just as fast to farm, but gives decent exp. for a good group of level 70 toons?

    Your suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks!

Where are you finding Sporali skin off of? Any Sporali or is it in a specific zone?

I do Othmir until 295, then I'll switch to Grandmaster armor. But I'm able to solo PoV giants, not everyone can I guess. What's your class, level and gear?

Why not do Master Arms to 290?

Normally I can put together a group of level 70 toons something like:

Warrior (Approx 15K HPs buffed), Cleric, Shaman, Wizzy, Bard, Chanter. Just a basic solid group mix.

It would be nice to find a place where the group would obtain decent exp, and get 10 - 20 drops an hour.

            Thanks!

Because High Elves need Storm Volaas Hair.

If you want to gain exp while gathering components, you'll have to do DoN masters or GM. I doubt very much you'll achieve that drop rate though. Otherwise it's greens all the way.

Forget PoS giants then, I think your group would clear it pretty fast, for like 10 drops maybe. I can clear maybe half of it solo before repops, and Tunare knows cleric dps is laughable.

I wouldn't bring a group to loot TS components either, unless they like PoS xp.

You could try Elemental level Tailoring too... I've made a fair amount of Firehide, Earthweave & Firestrand gear in addition to all the things you mentioned in your list.

You can also look into Murkglider & Feran gear... And Essence of Discord (Murkglider upgrades) & Gelidran Ice (Feran upgrades).

i've been hemorrhaging pp in the bazaar buying othmir fur, holgresh fur and velium hound fur. whee.

i may look again at how elemental tailored items sell.

i noticed the prepared sporali skin, but i haven't been able to find sporali skin anywhere in game (or on my /buyer). witheran bile is all over the place. is it the case that sporali skin is rare or that it's from mobs no one kills?

edit: n/m the questions. just saw the other thread about it!

Market your EP tailored gear based on their tribute value. I don't have a chart comparing every combination in front of me atm, but I would bet that DoN or cultural armor is far better than any EP crafted armor piece. Crystals are not hard to get even for non-raiders, so I doubt you will sell many pieces of EP armor to people who would wear them, not for the cash they went for in the past.

The tribute values are very nice tho. Maybe you can get your guild to finance the materials for some combines if you tribute the results in your GH.

And after spending 1-2 hours killing giants, which is very difficult to do solo (I had to gate out once when I pulled 3), I had a whole TWO drops. It takes 2 drops to make 1 swatch, for 1 attempt at a single swatch item.

So basically, I'd have 1 attempt about every 2 hours of farming. . .

yup, that's why no high elves use this for a skillup route. heck, i'm not sure i'd even use this as a money-making route (in the same time, you could do 3-4 Creator missions and have a reasonable expectation of getting a drake hide from that -- it's great when your best option for skilling are grandmaster combines, right?? ).

in those two hours, during which you got two storm volaas hairs, how many giants did you kill, by the way?

On the other hand, given that Coarse Spider Silks are also stupid-rare... Master's level Silk Armour should sell very well, at a very good price.
