clarification please?

OK call me a nitwit, but I just cannot figure this out. Cultural armor, for instance DE cultural, requires ancestral cultural armor to make it?? I have tried looking up the quest but can't make heads nor tails of it and when I return I want to start on this for both of my toons. Can someone pull the blinders off my face please?

To make your race's armor you need the Ancestral (your race) Book which is used to make Molds/Pattern for (your race) (armor slot). Generally speaking the book involves collecting 4 items from the newbie areas nearby your starting city.

To make the symbols to aug the armor (where most of the stats are coming from) you need the symbols book which is also obtained by a quest, and the difficulty depends on which level you're doing.

There is also the OLD cultural, and the Improved old cultural armors.
Don't get em mixed up.

Heh you know its a mess when you have 3 (or 4 if you count LoY robes for some races) levels of "cultural" armor and they're all completely different.

LOL braggart! OK I think I understand the DoN one now, thanks. Am I correct that for the old cultural you need to get the molds from Plane of Time? Which one is the better to go after for a 58 unflagged drood??

Um, no. The old cultural has nothing to do with Time. There were two tiers of old cultural, and not all races had them. The "old" old cultural was introduced with the base Everquest, I believe. The "blue diamond" cultural was introduced around the same time as Luclin, but did not require the expansion.

The LoY robes are not cultural, strictly speaking. They're racial. Anyone can make the ribbons, and those races that have silk wearers can also make the robes.
