Play a good soloing class, get to a high lvl with decent aa's behind you, and farm high end named for drops. Baring that making the subcombine items that most of us hate having to do over and over and over tends to sell well in the baz. Leather padding has gone way back up on my server, I may actually start making that again. Celestial Essence is up too, but I honestly think many ppl don't know if can be all vendor bought. I've had 50k days just from drops in groups in WoS. Never seen close to 1mill pp though, need a few more aa's before I can start reliably soloing some of the oow content.

About how many combines you all think it take to get to 252 from 223 (29 skill ups)?

I keep 1 skill up for every 20ish combines in mind when tradeskilling, so around 600 combines.

According to the site calculator, you should be able to expect about a 7-8% chance of skill up per combine (with maxed stats and geerlok), or roughly 1 in 13 combines. But you still have the RNG to contend with.

The Buy low, Sell high method is the quickest way to wealth for sure. You will often find your best deals in live auctioning rather on bazaar traders. If you are real lucky some vendor mining may treat you favorably as well.

For steady income, look for items that move rather quickly (sell at least one a day). Its better to make 1k of profit on an item with each sale than 40k if you can sell the 1k item 40x more often. I make items that give a decent tribute value and sell them for approximately 1/4 to 1/3 this value. People are more likely to spend 2k for 8k of tribute than 1pp for 7 points of tribute. Consumables like food and drink work pretty well too if the market is not too saturated.

Knowing the right items to farm will help also, but you will often need to sit on these items for weeks to get your sale. You have the option to sell them at a lesser value to someone working the Buy low, Sell high method above for immediate cash.
