  • Is Skill-Ups with Tunarean armor realistic

I was curious if a wood elf trying to do skill-ups from 250 to 300 making Tunarean Soldier armor is realistic?

The Master's Brambleborn (wood elf tailoring) items require Shissar Scales from Ssraeshza Temple off The Grey. If you are able to farm them, then I would say yes, it appears as though wood elves have a valid skillup path with Master's level DoN tailoring.

However, as you've stated before, you are in your 50's, making this skillup route impractical unless you level or go with higher level friends to Ssra.

Practicality of a skillup route is usually dependent on a few things:

    1.) Droprate of item.
2.) How obtainable are the components for me?
3.) What is my cash flow like?
4.) Am I willing to put up with farming components as opposed to purchasing them?

Answer these questions and you should be able to figure out what is practical or not for you.

Shissar scales are by far the easiest thing you could farm to do 250-300.

Can a lvl 65 mage and lvl 65 enchanter 2 box for Shissar Scales and be able to farm?

          Tunarean

Is Tunarean unralistic as a skill-up because Excellent Sabretooth Hides are uber rare?

While I haven't tried it, I imagine a 65 mage+65 enchanter should have no trouble farming shissar scales.

I was able to solo SSRA just fine long ago with my magician at 65, after all the upgrades who have happened to pets since then it should be easy and with enchanter then its np at all.

It is a realistic route. I know several 300 tailors who went that route.

                    Tunarean

How many Excellent Sabretooth Hides do you think I would need to go from 250 to 300 making Tunarean armor.............like over a thousand of them?

General rule of thumb I use is 20 combines per skill up ( yes it is an optimistic number ), so yeah 1000+ sounds right.

                        Oh Geez

Geez.....with the drop rate of Excellent Hides and the fact i play 2 hours a night, i think i would farm 1 thousand hides in about 2 years LOL.

I went this route from 295 to 300. Pharming 3 scales per combine was way more time consuming than pharming hides. I'd offer 200pp in OT and generally would get about 5-6 per day from this. Bazaar coughed up at least 3-4 a night, and I'd pharm about 5 or 6 myself. In the end I sometimes got one stack per day. It's not the most glamerous or cost efficient, but they sell back for decent tribute, and it's way easier imho than Shissar post 295. I was happy getting one skillup a day till I finally dinged 300.

My experience has been the exact opposite on excellent hides vs shissar scales. I recently spent 3 hours in OT and farmed cats constantly....netted 2 excellent hides. The zone on seventh hammer isnt highly populated, and I think one of the groups there was looking for hides as well.

In a bit over 2 hours later in ssra I ended up with 14 scales... 6-8 an hour seems close to what I was getting before as well.

The big benefit about the cat hides is that they can be farmed at lower levels.

The big benefit about scales is that the mobs give exp up to 70, and you can sometimes hook up with groups doing keys or other camps in ssra.

I still have 3 points of tailoring left to finish (297-298 is proving to be one of THOSE points for me). So I will probably do some more of both, spreads the frustration around a little, heh.
