  • Tailoring Guides still up to date or are there new skillup paths?

Hiya, sortoff new to the crafting business, but I am thinking of taking up Tailoring again with my Troll. I got him to 115 with the quivers, and was wondering wether the Guides are still accurate, or wether there are new skill-up paths available?

Other then Wu's, Acrylia, solstice and such?

    Thanks for any veteran advice!

Velious leathers mostly all trivial at 252 now instead of 335 (ex: Arctic Wyvern), but other than that they are still useful. There may be new skillup opportunities in your cew cultural tailoring, check it out for yourself and see.i

That's what I did, from LoY ribbons $$$ to Expert cultural. Using the 1 swatch combines.

      Expert's Metalofiber Armband to 182
      Expert's Metalofiber Gloves to 192
      Expert's Metalofiber Sleeves to 212

The Expert symbols are even less expensive, provided you aren't paying 46p+ per droppable component off of vendors.

LoY ribbons to gold are probably the way to go, then probably Expert Cultural. The nice thing is you can destroy all the other pattern types and keep combining the book for more patterns. It's certainly not cheap though.

I followed the same path, being a gnome as well. Crystalline silk was very easy to get, but it did run me in the neighborhood of 45K to buy the required cultural threads that I used. Granted, I started right in on the Expert gear with a skill of about 35 so I did fail quite a lot in the beginning. I wasnt as concerend with the cost as I was the easist way to skill up. I had an army of lower levels in my guild farming CC and Velks for the silks (and the velium, which Im not using for Velious leathers) so supply was outstripping my ability to combine; you might not be as lucky

Now Ive moved onto mainly Velious leathers, though I will still do LoY robe combines when I can get the research components for the swatches. After about 232 I think I wont be making Robes anymore, as the components are much more rare and also used in some higher level spell combines (one for gnomes is the same part used in RGC, so its 5-10K in bazaar when it does pop up)

Id have liked to continue with Master's level Dragons cultural, but Nightmare arachnid silk is much more difficult to farm and doesnt drop nearly in the quantities that I need to burn through skill like the crystalline was. C'est la vie.

Ouch! You coulda done the Crystalline Mask type stuff, to the 120's or so I think for much less plat. I'd keep all that velium for the easy smithing route of Enchanted Velium Bits, but then I'm getting everything to 200 before I move on.

Master's Gnome Cultural requires you destroy some faction by much killing in Skyfire. Other than that I agree, it's not really a viable skillup path due to availability, or rather lack thereof, of parts. And that's too bad too because the items you can make with it are just under being nice at 65+, even for us non-pop progressed people.

Keep the Expert stuff though, as you can alternatively smith and tinker with the things for skillups, though the tinkering method sucks (poi drops).

            RGC needs:
            Yaeth's 73 R
            Words of Apparition
neither of which is used in a gnomish LoY robe recipe. The gnome components for robes are:

            Breath of Ro
            Rune of the Astral
            Toharon 15 R
            Words of Neglect

Yaeth 25 R -- Used to make KEI

Words of Expertise -- Used to make many 60th level spells (prices not on the top o' me head)

I'm guessing the Yaeth 25 R is what you meant, so that's still a good one to consider not turning into a robe. BUT it DOES make THE best gnomish LoY robe out there (with Spell Haste 3 on it, and nice stats) which may possibly sell as well as high as a few thousand (though I kind of doubt it).

I sell these for 4K each in the bazaar. Don't sell really fast, but they do sell. Reason is there's no level limit on them, so they are great for the lower levels, and the focus effect will take you all the way to 60. The intellect robes also tribute for 7K or so, which is pretty nice.

I'll pay no more than 2K for the component so I can still make a profit on them, although some people try to price the Yaeth's 25R page as high as 5K each.
