  • Ugh, So Depressed!

I recently got back from an extended break, about 6 months playing around in WoW, and decided to get back to my tradeskilling. Just have Tailoring to finish up and I can finally complete my Aid Grimmel Quest.

So I got to looking around on my characters, and when I hopped on my Vendor Character, I discovered that I had 600+ Sacred Tunare Silks saved up, was saving them while I got Salvage a while back, and completely forgot about them. I was soo happy, thinking that I could finally get to 220 and try my combine. (currently at 190) - Got a couple Chains made up, about 10 I think it was, and start my combines...

    Success!
    Success!
    Success!
Fail... (Yikes... was starting to worry)
    Fail... (yay!)
    Success!
    Success!
    Success!
    Success!
    Success!
    Success!
    Success!

Man... I was in shock. Asked around, found out about the nerf... and was nearly brought to tears.

So now not only do I have 600 Tunare silks rotting away, because I am a poor paladin, I certainly can't afford success like that!

And am at a lost on what to do now... :-\

All I really want is 220, I put so much time into that earring, would hate not to finish it. Any advice would be great, Thanks.

This nerf hit those trying to reach 300 more imo but if i were you, i would at least use all those tunare silks as they are already prepped. Your JC must be high enough to make the chains yourself if you only need tailoring for earring.
You could also look into the new DoN master armour, unless your char needs great reptile hides this seems a farmable skill-up route.

you may not like the advice, but abandon hope.

i take that back, partially. if you happen to be of a race that uses shissar scales in its master-level DoN cultural armor, you're set. otherwise, get ready to farm for 1000 hours or so, or just give up. farm velious leather, farm velious fur, but you're gonna be farming if you want to do anything with tailoring. the aid grimel earring is a high quality earring, but you'll do far better in that 1000 hours.

(the 1000 hours is a number i pulled out of my ear, by the way).

            Sell Tunare Silk to Vendor?

I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly, but you might be able to sell the silks to a NPC merchant for just below the price of the emerald used to make the silk.

It used to be that any of the imbued gems or even the imbued metals sold to merchants for a pittance, and you could purchase them for that same 'mere pittance'.

I'm not sure when it changed, but at some point merchants began offering to purchase your imbued gem for the same price as an unimbued gem (and imbued metals for unimbued metal prices).

Don't hold me to it, but I THINK the selling price of the silks was upped to nearly the price of the emerald. This would let you recoup some of your investment on all those darned silks.

watch your jewelry vendor for chains. It is a skill up path some folks use to get the last few checks for 300 and some folks will just sell them to the vendor instead of trying to sell them in bazaar or where ever.

Well I see that you are a human, you have one of the best skillup routes out there, cultural robes.

Start buying Essence of Rathe, Rune of Concussion, Flake of Lodestone, Words of Obliteration, and Words of Capacity.

You will mostly find Essence of Rathe and Rune of Concussion.

Essence of Rathe robes trivial at 222
Robe of Concussion robes trivial at 232

Since I buy these and convert them to swatches (for many different races) I know it is not difficult to get a lot of concussion/rathes for Humans, their components are fairly common. Currently I have about 300 concussion and 140 scent etched swatches on my trader. (Too bad you weren't on Drinal.)

Don't forget to search for plant shoot / jaggedpine dye / teal ribbons, & plains roots / plains dye / cyan ribbons.

Incidentally I have about 560 tear etched swatches for high elves, theirs are pretty common too.

Anyways, just start buying those up, after a month of checking bazaar and vendor mining, you should have a sizeable stock. Natimbi is especially good to check as they both drop (rathe and concussion) there and people frequently sell them to the magus & fishing merchant.

That's odd. The sickles tribute for 1300 or so. I'm surprised at such a disparity.

Why would the recipes that use shissar scales be an easy skill up route for tailoring? I've looked at the recipes and for each combine attempt you seemingly need master's water of _______, which all require crushed diamond dust. I've been looking in the bazaar now for a month out of habit and I've seen precisely two for sale. They reportedly drop off the same mobs that drop the Velious quest gems, but they're so rare I'd think that anyone would be far better served farming othmir or wyvern hides or just about anything else.

Hook up with someone doing Gem studded chains for JC skillups and offer them at least a partial compensation for their chains. Market value is probably horribly low in the bazaar (150pp each on Prexus, anyhow) doesn't even begin to cover the gem cost. And the vendors are worse.

Aye, they cost right about 250pp to make, give or take some gold pieces and vendors buy them for 21p 9g 5c .

Agree with Anjar. Besides, the scales are for the symbols, which can be made by anyone. The expert symbols (needing lambent stones) are viable path for anyone. Masters seem unhelpful. OTOH, the race specific Master armor itself might be possible - but farming Nightmare Arachnid silk not that easy either. But as we all keep saying to ourselves, there is no easy path!

Is there a 260+ shiz scale that does not need insanely rare crushed diamond dust.
