  • Troll or Halfling ?

    Hello.

I am thinking of starting tailoring but am not sure which char I should use.

    I have a 64 Troll BL inny deity and a 63 halfling karna .

Can a Troll make haling gear ? Same for halfling making Troll gear. Leather I mean.

Troll has 220 wis and Halfling has 240 wis...without kei.
The BL will most likely be a level or 2 ahead of the druid as i level up.

The halfling cannot make troll cultural armor, nor can the troll make any halfling cultural items. Depending on your priorities, that may resolve it for you already, say, if you deperately want DON cultural armor for the troll.

Halflings have old cultural recipes for 100% weight reducing bags. The druid class has (I believe) access to AA's which raise the stat cap on INT and WIS. Assuming you get the gear to justify buying these AA's, a higher WIS would help you get skillups slightly faster. Although, I note that your WIS is not yet capped on either character. Being that the road to grandmastery is long, I'm not afraid to look ahead some. You are NOT likely to grind up to 300 tailoring in a week! If all you want is a GM tailor, all else being equal, the halfling druid has more advantages. If you're thinking about DON cultural, I have tended to notice many more halfling druids around (who might buy your wares) than troll beastlords (too dang many cats...).

As a side note, anyone can make any of the DON cultural augs. The only thing that really limits you culturally is which Water of (Insert Diety Here) you are able to get your hands on. I don't believe these are No Drop, so if necessary, you can have a friend (or a mule) go buy what you need and pass it to you any way that's convenient.

Tailoring isn't restricted on WIS for skillup check, in fact it the the higher of WIS / INT / DEX / STR that is used. So your race doesn't mater much as long as you focus on maxing your prime stat.

Without looking it up to confrim, if I'm remembering correctly, Smithing uses the higher of WIS / INT / STR, Fletching and Poisoncraft uses the higher of WIS / INT / DEX and all the other tradeskills just use the higher of WIS / INT.

Correct, tailoring does indeed use the higher of Int/Wis only.

The halfling would probably have an easier time with Tailoring, but...if you want the troll cultural armor, won't be able to make it. So, it really depends on what you are wanting to tailor.

That is correct. This has been confirmed by the developers in several of the Fan Faires.
