  • Skillup Path Advice

Hi all. I play on Zek as a Level 61 Human Ranger. I am currently a 199 Tailor. I used the LoY Ribbons and then a slew of Solstice Robe combines to get here. I have been gathering items for Human Cultural to make my next assault: Lodestones, Salil's, Concussions, Rathe, Etc. I have enough for about 200 combines.

I have also accumulated about 250 Arctic Wyvern Hides and about as many Cod Oils. I learned that these were not a very efficient method of skilling up (below 200), and had planned on using them from 220 to 250 (or so). Anyway, that's over.

Question: What should I use now from 199 to 250? Both? Which one first? Thanks for the responses.

Considering both have the same trival of 252 I don't think it would matter which of the 2 you did first. Just remember to stop at 210 to get your 2 'cheap' points.

Human cultural tailor here as well, on my server I found essence of rathe and runes of consussion for the human cultural robes to be very common and I used them to get my skill up to 232. I'm still picking up the higher end human components when I see them for sale (flake of lodestone, words of obliteration, words of capacity) but they are hardly ever for sale on TM.
With 305 wis I expect about 1 skill up every 20 combines, so with 250 hides I would expect about 13 skill ups. Keeping that in mind I'd go with the human cultural to 232, after that combine the robes of lodestone you have in stock for a few extra skill ups, and start with that arctic wyvern after that together with the higher end human cultural robes to get your skill up to 252.

I would definitely say to go in the order of skillup path. Do robes that trivial prior to 252 first. Then the wyvern stuff.

Thanks for the answers. I have planned, and after reading here, continue to plan, to advance in order of trvial level. I also have found Rathes and Concussions to be plentiful.

Any comment on the possibility that the trivial on Wyvern Hides will be modified again in the near future?

Have you considered the expert cultural symbols up to 222?

It requires doing a short quest and then uses Lambent Stones and Drachnid Silk. Neither of which is particularly rare or difficult to come by. You would likely make a profit from Hill Giant loot if you farm your own Lambent Stones too.

Cost would be less than the LoY ribbons even if you buy the Lambent Stones from vendors. On my server there doesn't seem to be a shortage of them being sold to vendors yet.

I plan to try this route myself as soon as I find the time to get back to tradeskills.

I am in the very same spot, Ribbons vs Expert cultural combines, being a gnome necro. Unfortunately lambent stones are not plentiful on Maelin, and they do not drop nearly as frequently as I would like off of the Rathe Mountain Hill Giants, Maybe 1 every 10 or so kills so far. Drachnid silk is easy enough to come by, but if you can afford the plat doing the armor combines for similar trivial it is even more easy because crystalline silk tends to be more readily available. The down side is the combine results cannot be sold to vendors, like they can with the ribbons, and so far Expert armor is not moving in the baz at just under 500 plat. Symbols may move better, but I see the same people selling them day in and day out and at roughly the same numbers.

I want to raise my skills so I fail less when I go to do the Master's combines, since some of those mob-drop-only items are even more rare. 50 kills 1 crushed diamond dust, 300-500pp each on barter... I've been running around steamfont getting springwater and Erud's crossing trying for that mob droppable dye component, and all I can say is tailoring is a pain at this level without having a pet canter or forager.

When your base tailor hits 210, check this recipe: http://eqtraders.com/items/show_item...r=035000000000

As you can see it's required 220 but if you use Geerlok device, your skil level will be modified to 220 (5% * 210 = 10.5 or just +10, any mod less than a whole number is always rounded down) but since your base is 210, you can do silk swatches until your base is 212. Silk strands are somewhat common drop in some PoP zones like PoV.

This skillup is kind of a loophole because of the required trival and I don't think SoE expected this at all.

I thought Lambent Stones were Lore?

                    They change this?

They are no longer lore, and they stack now too.
