Racnar Hides

Cleared Halls of Testing in TOV twice today. Not only did it take a full group of 70s four hours to do so, but there are only six racnars in the whole zone, on a 72 minute respawn.

We died 3 times just trying to get in there thanks to changes to aggro radius of Zemm and no longer needing to have an open door to get him to wipe your group. And of course, none of the racnars actually dropped a hide.

Has anyone gotten one yet, and where from? For this kind of trouble, every racnar in HOT ought to drop a STACK of hides. From what little information I've been able to find, the only other options are Veeshan's Peak (requires a very arduous key quest + difficult raid just for access to zone) or Skyshrine (destroying faction in process.)

Surely with far, far easier to acquire master level tailoring components for other races, Sony has either made a blunder by choosing this hide for master level DON cultural tailoring, or there is a reasonable source of racnar hides somewhere but people are being tight lipped about it.

My vote is for the former rather then the latter....not too impressed with the thought that went into this choice. I don't think any other material choice requires either destroying a faction that actually has bearing on the game for some, or getting into a keyed raid zone. It would be like making Trolls or Ogres require a drop off the Coldain in Thurg or Froststone. I'm hoping they somehow rectify this; there are plenty of other hides in the game that don't come from zones that require you to assemble a group of like-factioned people, destroy a faction you've worked hard to raise or get a now difficult access key. Of course they could also just as easily add a new one to a level appropriate mob somewhere, maybe even using nightmare mephit skin or similar from Storm, since that would pair up in accessibility and difficulty with the silk items.

It's like someone was asked to find a hide that drops in a zone related to dragons off a mob in a certain level range and they put no thought into the impications of the choice.

Has it even been confirmed that racnar hides drop off of racnars in Skyshrine or Veeshan's Peak? Obviously they are/were in the game somewhere, but I've yet to find a confirmation of it dropping somewhere since DoN went live.

I wouldn't care about destroying Skyshrine faction if the drops were as plentiful as say, nightmare arachnid silks, which can drop up to 3 on one kill and is a 20ish minute respawn mob.

I can verify 15 racnar kill sin skyshrine(never do that again the faction hits are nothing short of brutal) and the only hides i got off the racnar there were wyvern pelts, go figure.

Went there myself this morning, same exact thing. 15 dead racnars (green cons, lblue cons, and dblue cons) and 4 arctic wyvern hides.

Even killed some wyvern models in case they got loot tables switched. They still drop only arctic wyvern hides as well, and you do lose faction for killing both mobs.

are there not racnars just outside the SS entrance in WL? if these are the source, then its gonna be slow getting them, as i think there are about 10 of them max that spawn near there...

i belive those are Tigeraptors, same model mobs but not called racnars.

Went in today after patch and killed a couple Old Racnar in SS. 3rd kill dropped an Arctic Wyvern hide, so I left. Table still borked, /bugged and /feedbacked it. Hope it gets fixed soon so I can have a skill up route...

Great news for those who have access, which I had pre-revamp, but have very little hope of getting post I guess it's too much to ask that Old Racnars in SS drop Racnar hides instead of Arctic Wyvern? It's bad enough to ruin faction, it's just infuriating when you ruin it for no purpose.

You know the sad part is, we are a month out and three patches form realease and this is still a problem. Granted its only a problem that affects three races, so its not a big problem (sarcasm off). Since they changed the trivials for the rest of the tailoring there isnt any real skill up path for half elfs, short of doing don's for ultra rare and highly contested glowing drake hides. Having bought the latest expansion specifically because i was so excited about finally having half elfs get ncultural recipes i feel pretty cheated.

And these post-revamp racnars could be solo'd by a level 60? Or, you're supposed to have a group of level 60 friends who have defeated Suled Dar's Shade?

A quick look on alak says the racnar in there 60-65 and since the zone was revamped to be ele level zone i imagine they hit pretty hard. Easy solo opportunity, lol.
So if i understand this right we have to get enough peeps together to have defeated the main raid mob to get into vp, than we have to have enough faction to be able to hunt inside safely( with the revamp of mm there isnt alot vamps to kill to get faction, i guess ill have to take my 70 druid down to free port and raze the bards and destroy that faction) Come on there has to be a better plan than this.
